Carrie Underwood and John Legend performed their collaborative holiday track “Hallelujah” on Saturday (Dec. 19) during Global Citizen Prize ceremony, honoring the most inspiring leaders and activists of the year.
“This song and its message is much needed right now and I’m honored to have it on my Christmas album, My Gift,” Underwood previously said of the song.

“Hallelujah” appears on Underwood’s first-ever Christmas album, My Gift, which is available now. The singer is also set to perform the entire album in full during an HBO Max special on December 3.Hosted by John Legend, Global Citizen Prize aired on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and also streamed digitally via Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook.
The annual event also featured performances by Alessia Cara, Carrie Underwood, Common, Gwen Stefani, John Legend, JoJo, and Tori Kelly. Also including appearances from John Oliver, Nick Jonas, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and more.
Global Citizen honors those making extraordinary efforts to lift up the world’s most vulnerable, inspire others to stand up and take action, help end extreme poverty and make the world a better place. The special will re-air on MSNBC on Dec. 31 at 12 a.m. ET/PT.
