BREAKING: Thomas Rhett Issues Statement After Being Forced To Abruptly Postpone Alabama Concert

Thomas Rhett was forced to abruptly postpone Thursday night’s concert in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at Tuscaloosa Amphitheater due to severe weather conditions.

On Thursday (July 21), the country superstar made the difficult decision to postpone as the severe weather rolled into the area.

While sitting on his tour bus, Rhett took to his Instagram stories to share the unfortunate news with fans.

“Tuscaloosa, Thomas Rhett here,” Rhett began. ”I’m really, really sorry but we’re not going to be able to do the show tonight due to severe lightning and I know a lot of y’all have asked if we could go on super late.”

Rhett said that if it didn’t break curfew he would’ve waited out the weather and performed a late-night concert, however, the storm will be in the area all night.

“As much as I would stay up till 1 o’clock in the morning to do this, the curfew in this town is 11:30 and all the people that I’ve spoken to say that the weather is not going to clear by then,” Rhett continued. ”So, this sucks because I’ve literally been rained out in my career twice ever, tonight being the second time.”

Thomas Rhett Will Return To Tuscaloosa For His Rescheduled Tour Date In September

He then revealed the newly scheduled tour date with fans who plan to come back to Tuscaloosa for his Bring The Bar To You Tour when it returns to Tuscaloosa Amphitheater.

“We already found a new date to come back, September 8th,” Rhett added. ”Obviously, a lot of y’all traveled here from other states and I just feel for you. I’m so sorry, but this is an act of God and lightning is something that we don’t play around with and we want to make sure y’all are safe.”

If fans are unable to return to the September 8th concert, please reach out to your point of purchase for a refund.

“So yeah, September the 8th we are coming back to Tuscaloosa and obviously if a lot of y’all can’t make it please contact your point of purchase for a refund and all that good jazz, but hope to see y’all again on September the 8th,” Rhett said, before further apologizing to fans. ”Once again, so freakin’, sorry. I hate this. I’m literally on the bus ready to play. Sometimes that’s just how it works out, so, I love y’all. Thank y’all so much for coming out tonight.

He went on to promise fans that when he returned on September 8, he and his band “will put on a heck of a dag on show.”

Rhett did everything in his power to attempt to go on with the concert prior to the cancellation. Hours before the original showtime, Rhett revealed plans to go on early due to the incoming weather.

Unfortunately, that plan did not work out. He then encouraged fans to check back around 8pm for a status update.

Those waiting outside the venue were encouraged to take cover due to the inclement weather conditions and lightning activity in the area.

The Bring The Bar To You Tour, which runs through mid-October, also features special guests Parker McCollum and Conner Smith.

The next scheduled tour date is set for Friday, July 22 at Lakewood Amphitheatre in Atlanta, Georgia.
