Parker McCollum issued a statement as he was forced to abruptly cancel his Y’allapalooza 2023 concert on Friday evening (Aug. 11) at Azura Amphitheater in Bonner Springs, Kansas due to a “super dangerous” electrical fire.

The country superstar took to social media to reveal the unfortunate news with his fans via a video statement.

“Bonner Springs, KS. Had an electric problem tonight during one of the openers sets and something caught fire on the stage, prohibiting us from having power and forcing us to cancel tonight’s show. Again I apologize sincerely for your inconvenience tonight. Refunds will be found at point of purchase,” he captioned the video message.

In the clip, McCollum is seen sitting in the backstage area of the Azura Amphitheater outside his tour bus relaying the message with his followers.

“Man, as y’all probably know by now, show is canceled,” McCollum explained.

He went on to detail the situation and why he had to suddenly cancel the concert just minutes before he was set to take the stage and after the openers already performed.

“Our power distro caught fire. I think a lot of y’all saw it during one of the opener’s sets,” McCollum continued. “Not safe to go on, they won’t let us play the show… Electrical problems and technical difficulties and super dangerous to go on stage from what I understand. I apologize sincerely that you guys had to wait around all night and find out so late. You have my word we will come back and make it up to you. I promise you that. You guys be safe getting home. Again, so sorry and we’ll have to see ya next time.”

Venue Issues Statement

Azura Amphitheater, which is the venue hosting the concert, also took to social media to issue a statement with concertgoers.

“We want to thank everyone for coming out tonight,” their statement began. “Unfortunately, an electrical fire has made it impossible to safely power the show. The production staff has determined it is not possible to continue the show tonight. We apologize for any inconvenience. Parker McCollum is disappointed that he will not be able to play for everyone tonight.

The Amphitheater’s statement continued, “Refunds will be made available at point of purchase in the coming days. Once again, the fire made it impossible to continue the show tonight, and we apologize.”

Chris Lane, Travis Denning and Catie Offerman served as support on the now canceled show, which was dubbed Yallapalooza ’23.

McCollum’s next schedule concert will take place as planned at Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi on Saturday, August 12.

The Texas native is currently on the road in support of his new album, Never Enough, performing several headlining tour dates and appearing at various festivals. In addition to his own headlining shows, McCollum is also serving as support on select dates of Morgan Wallen’s One Night At A Time World Tour and Eric Church’s The Outsiders Revival Tour.
