Jimmy Buffett has been hospitalized to address medical issues that need “immediate attention” and will no longer perform in Charleston, South Carolina this Saturday, May 20.
Buffett, 76, took to Facebook to issue a statement with fans, addressing the unfortunate news.

“Hello my faithful fans in Charleston and beyond,” his statement began. ”These few words from Mark Twain about life changes, seemed perfect to pass on at this time. ‘Challenges,’ he said, ‘make life interesting, however overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.’”
He went on to reveal that he recently came home from the Bahamas for a routine checkup in Boston, which led to his hospitalization.
“I had a sudden change of plans this week that affected us all. Two days ago, I was just back from a trip to the Bahamas, thawing out from the California ‘winter tour,’ and chomping at the bit to get to Charleston,” he continued. ”I had to stop in Boston for a check-up but wound up back in the hospital to address some issues that needed immediate attention.”
Promised Fans He Will Return To The Stage When He Is “Well Enough”
Jimmy Buffett then promised fans that he will one day return to the stage once he is “well enough” to perform again.
‘Growing old is not for sissies, I promise you. I also will promise you, that when I am well enough to perform, that is what I’ll be doing in the land of She-Crab soup. You all make my life more meaningful and fulfilled than I would have ever imagined as a toe headed little boy sitting on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts, your amazing years of loyalty, and just remember, ‘NOT YET!’”
“Parrotheads” flocked to the comments section to share get well messages with the Mississippi native.
“Take care of yourself and we will be ready whenever you are ready! ☀️Thank you for your music and the inspiration you give all your fans! I am praying for you ! ❤️ ,” wrote one Facebok user, while another shared, “Wishing you a quick recovery. You and your music, your band brothers are like family.”

Dubbed “The Coast of Carolina Show” the Charleston, South Carolina concert at Credit One Stadium was part of Jimmy Buffett’s Second Wind Tour 2023. The show was set to feature special guest Scotty Emerick.
Previously Canceled 2022 Tour due to “Health Issues”
The “Margaritaville” singer has been facing undisclosed health issues since last year. In September of 2022, his team revealed that he would not be touring for the remainder of the year due to “due to health issues” and a “brief hospitalization.”
“Due to health issues and brief hospitalization, Jimmy will need to refrain from touring for the rest of the year,” his team shared last year. “On doctor’s orders, he must take this time to recuperate and heal. Jimmy looks forward to getting back on stage next year.”
Fans who had tickets to see Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band are encouraged to hold on to their tickets as they will be honored for the new date once it’s announced. Additional information regarding the rescheduled concert will be emailed to ticket holders directly.
Working On New Album
Jimmy Buffett And The Coral Reefer Band are currently working on a brand-new album, which will serve as the follow-up to their 2020 project, Life On The Flip Side. 2023 will also find Buffett celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Son Of a Son Of A Sailor.
