Brantley Gilbert abruptly halted production of his concert at Cadence Bank Arena in Tupelo, Mississippi, on Friday night (Oct. 11) after receiving word from his team that his wife, Amber, had gone into labor on their tour bus parked outside. Without hesitation, the 39-year-old country superstar stopped the show and rushed to the bus to be with his wife and help her welcome their third child, a baby boy.

Abruptly Stopped Mississippi Concert To Welcome Third Child On Tour Bus

Gilbert returned to the stage to finish out his Mississippi concert on the Off The Rails Tour and informed the capacity crowd that he and his wife welcomed their third child.

“We got a baby, Mississippi!” Gilbert revealed as he was visibly overcome with emotion. The crowd cheered, applauded him and were chanting his name as tears streamed down his face and his band hugged him.

Returned To Stage To Finish The Show After Welcoming A Baby Boy

“My wife said I better go get my ass to work, let’s fire this sh*t up boys,” Gilbert added as the band continued the show. After performing a few more songs, Gilbert stopped to explain why he didn’t cancel the remainder of the show and decided to return to the stage to finish the show.

“I’m usually not this much of a bitch, but I gotta tell y’all, I know it seems crazy to come back out, and a lot of you moms are probably in here like, ‘What the fuck is wrong with this dude?’ But for 20 years, this is the only life I’ve ever known. And I know a lot of you have been coming to shows for 20 years and had my back for 20 years, and I can’t imagine being anywhere else. God bless y’all, man,” he said.

“The Craziest Night Of My Life”

One day after the show, the Georgia native and country singer/songwriter took to social media to share a clip from the memorable evening. The clip was accompanied by a heartfelt caption that praised his wife and detailed “the craziest night of my life.”

“So last night might have been the craziest night of my life. Watching such an amazing woman do such an amazing thing is something I’ll never forget,” he wrote. “Thank you to our road family for rallying around us, Brittany Thornton for helping us bring this little dude into the world, Tupelo, Mississippi for showing us mad love and support, and most of all… Amber Gilbert, for letting me love you and showing me EXACTLY how incredibly strong a woman can be. I love you.

The couple first revealed the news that Amber was pregnant with their third child via a social media post on May 13, one day after Mother’s Day. Gilbert and his wife simply shared photos of themselves holding up a photo of an ultrasound with the caption, “How’s this for a Mother’s Day?”

Brantley Gilbert and his wife, Amber Cochran Gilbert, have been married since 2015 and have two other children together, a 7-year-old son, Barrett Hardy-Clay, and a 5-year-old daughter, Braylen Hendrix.

New Album, Tattoos

The news comes just weeks after Gilbert released his seventh studio album, Tattoos, a 10-track project that arrived on September 13, 2024, via Valory Records/Big Machine Records. Loaded with ten tracks, the record finds Gilbert paying homage to his personal life and the experiences he’s gone through, ranging from the good to the bad to everything in between.

Summing up Tattoos during an exclusive interview with Music Mayhem, Gilbert said, “My albums themselves do what the previous six records to this one did, and that is tell my story. So [that] allowed us to kind of break loose on the album and kind of bounce and do some old-school stuff. So you hear some stuff on there that gives you a little bit of nostalgia. It takes you back to some of our beginning records, how we used to write, and how we used to record. So, man, this record was a lot of fun to make, and I hadn’t been this proud of one in a minute.”

Tattoos follows Gilbert’s previous albums, including 2022’s So Help Me God, 2019’s Fire & Brimstone, 2017’s The Devil Don’t Sleep, 2014’s Just As I Am, 2010’s Halfway to Heaven, and 2009’s A Modern Day Prodigal Son.

Planning To Get A New Tattoo To Honor His Third Child

During the interview, Gilbert also opened up about fatherhood and revealed to us that he is planning to get a new tattoo to honor his baby boy. “I thought we were done building our family. My wife did too. So it was a little bit surprising, but we’re so excited about it. But both of my kids, so my entire torso, I have their clocks here. I have a giant cross that is supposed to remind me that that’s what I’m supposed to put first, which if I’m being realistic, that’s a hard one for me.”

Gilbert continued, “It seems impossible to love anything more than I love my wife and my kids, but it’s a reminder to make a conscious effort in that direction. But on either side, I have their names, and then they have guardian angels. My wife doesn’t really like the angels because the angels are wearing bandanas and token a case, but they’re my angels, so they can, anyway, so I have two little spots on my back, and I guess we gotta get a clock for the baby and the baby’s name, and they have to have a guardian angel. So that’s next.”
