Brad Arnold of 3 Doors Down shared a heartfelt update with fans amid his battle with stage 4 cancer.
The 46-year-old “Kryptonite” singer took to social media on Sunday, July 6, beginning his post with a powerful quote by Thomas Merton that read, “what am I? I am myself a word spoken by God. Can God speak a word that does not have any meaning?”
In the caption, he shared a spiritual message with fans. “We were formed with the same breath indeed with the same force that formed all that we’ve ever known, all that is. We were…..YOU WERE formed with the same attention to detail and individuality that were given to the oceans above and the oceans below. Never EVER doubt that YOU have a purpose. Well, what is my purpose you ask…..to worship God. Put God first instead of your feelings, even your well being, and watch God’s purpose for your life spring to life.”

Revealed Stage 4 Cancer Diagnosis In May of 2025
This update comes two months after Brad Arnold shared his stage 4 cancer diagnosis with fans. He delivered the heartbreaking news via a video message on May 7, revealing that he has been diagnosed with clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), a form of kidney cancer that has metastasized to his lungs, resulting in a stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis.
“Got some not so good news for you today… So I’d been sick a couple of weeks ago and then went to the hospital and got checked out and had actually got the diagnosis that I had a clear renal carcinoma that had metastasized into my lung and that’s stage four. And that’s not real good,” he explained at the time.
As a result of Arnold’s diagnosis, the award-winning rock group had to cancel all upcoming tour dates, including their support stint with Creed.
Leans On His Faith And Remains Optimistic
Despite the severity of the diagnosis, Brad Arnold shared that he will continue to lean on his faith and remain optimistic as he battles the illness. “But you know what? We serve a mighty God, and he can over overcome anything. So I have no fear. I really sincerely am not scared of it at all, but it is going to force us to cancel our tour this summer, and we’re sorry for that,” Arnold continued in the video clip.
Arnold went on to ask fans for their support and prayers during this difficult time, referencing the band’s 2008 hit “It’s Not My Time” as a source of strength. “And I’d love for you to lift me up in prayer, every chance you get, and I think it’s time for me to go listen to ‘It’s Not My Time’ a little bit, right? Thank you guys so much. God loves you. We love you. See you,” Arnold concluded.

Arnold, renowned for his powerhouse vocals, has led 3 Doors Down since the band’s inception in 1996. They skyrocketed to fame with their breakout hit “Kryptonite” and went on to sell millions of albums globally, solidifying their place in the early 2000s rock era.
Additionally, 3 Doors Down’s official website has been wiped, and all upcoming tour dates have been canceled.
