NBC’s The Voice returned for Season 23 and it’s already promising to be one of the best seasons yet with coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, Chance The Rapper, and Niall Horan searching for the next musical superstars.
With the new season underway and blind auditions in full swing, the coaches have unveiled their team gifts for the contestants joining their respective teams: Team Blake, Team Kelly, Team Chance, and Team Niall.
The act of the coaches gifting swag to contestants began a few seasons ago and the coaches decided to keep with tradition once again in season 23.
See below for a list of the gifts The Voice coaches are offering their team members throughout the 23rd season.
Blake Shelton
Shelton’s gift to the members of Team Blake is simple, yet impactful.
“Somewhere along the line it became customary for coaches to hand out these gifts to their team. So here’s my gift to my team this year,” Shelton said in a clip shared by The Voice.
His gift to his teammates is a blue shirt that reads, “I am on Blake’s last team…” on the front and the back read, “…and all I got was this lousy t-shirt.”
The shirt is in celebration of Shelton’s final season as a coach on the show. He announced his departure last fall and fans were shocked to hear that he’d be leaving.
Blake Shelton is the longest-running and winningest coach in The Voice history.
Shelton previously gifted his team members with items such as a Blake Shelton bobblehead, a camouflage cooler bag, and more.
Niall Horan
This is Niall Horan’s first season as a coach on The Voice.
Horan’s team gift is a gray crew neck sweatshirt with “Niall Horan The Voice” written in a bold black text surrounding a colorful flower with a smiley face center.
“I wanted to make a gift for my team. I am currently doing some merchandise for my fans in the world. I call Hello lovers. So my hoodies usually have Niall Horan, Hello lovers. Now, it’s Niall Horan, The Voice. So when you get on my team, you get a beautiful, colorful hoodie for yourself to take home. It’s a good one.”
Kelly Clarkson
Clarkson returned to her big red chair on The Voice following a one-year hiatus and her team gift for Season 23 is her signature varsity jacket complete with Team Kelly branding.
“Alright, so I’m back fresh for season 23. And don’t worry, I did not fail to bring the team Kelly jacket in a nice wine burgundy, if you will this season,” Clarkson explained. “Only a couple of these left to give away. Team Kelly, the team to beat. That’s right. I said what I said.”
The “Since U Been Gone” singer previously gifted her team the same varsity jacket, but in different colors, including turquoise and more.
Chance The Rapper
Three-time GRAMMY winner Chance The Rapper joined The Voice as a coach for the first time this season and decided to gift members of his team with a custom hat.
Chance has been wearing a hat since he was a teenager, and in 2016, the first-time coach decided to brand his ball caps with the number 3 after releasing his third studio album, Coloring Book.
“Everybody on the teams have these sweatshirts or t-shirts or whatever that they’re handing out to their team. But if you come getting out a team Chance, you get a specialized New Era by The Voice Three cap. You have to be a winner to even hang around me? So the people that are on my team, natural-born winners. Literally the only people in the world that have this hat, are the people that are on Team Chance, like I made 10. I had to make two extra for the trio. So shouts out to everybody on my team.”
Chance The Rapper previously opened up about why he wears a hat with the number three on it.
“I wanted to put something else on the hat. And so I decided to do ‘3’. I just thought that that made the most sense because it was the third project,” Chance shared with NBC.
The number three on the hat also has a sentimental meaning to Chance. “I’ve rationalized it to myself that it stands for the third mixtape, the holy trinity, and the three-pronged family of myself, my daughter, and my girl,” he added.
The Voice airs every Monday (8/7c) and Tuesday (9/8c) on NBC and the next day on Peacock.
