Blake Shelton Brings Taste Of Oklahoma Ranch To 2021 CMA Awards With “Come Back As A Country Boy”

Blake Shelton brought a taste of his Oklahoma farm to the 2021 CMA Awards with a set that mimicked his beloved ranch.

The country superstar gave the television debut of his latest single, “Come Back As A Country Boy,” during the 55th Annual CMA Awards on Wednesday evening (Nov. 10).

While Shelton is not nominated at the 2021 CMA Awards, the country hitmaker is a 10x CMA Award winner.

Earlier today, Shelton released the music video for the song, which finds the Oklahoma native bringing the song to life as he rises out of fire ignited by an asteroid that lands on Earth from outer space.

Rising from the fiery ashes, Shelton is reincarnated with a beer in his hand as he declares, “When I die, I wanna come back as a country boy.”

Co-written by Michael HARDY, Josh Thompson and Jordan Schmidt, “Come Back As A Country Boy,” is a song that details the virtues of living the country lifestyle and is the first of several new tracks on the country hitmaker’s upcoming deluxe edition of Body Language, due out December 3.

“I think this song is an anthem for everyday hardworking country people out there,” Shelton previously shared in a press release. “We have so much pride in who we are and what we do that, if we ever died and got the chance to live life over again, we probably wouldn’t do it if we couldn’t be country.”

“Come Back As A Country Boy” is the first new track from the deluxe edition of Body Language, which has already yielded Platinum-certified No. 1 smash “Happy Anywhere” with Gwen Stefani.

Body Language Deluxe is set for release on December 3 and is available for pre-order now.

The 55th Annual CMA Awards also featured performances from Luke Combs, Jimmie Allen, Gabby Barrett, Brothers Osborne, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Dan + Shay, Jennifer Hudson, Miranda Lambert, Old Dominion, Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton, Keith Urban, and Zac Brown Band.

Additionally, the show included star-studded collaborations by Chris Young and Kane Brown, Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde, Mickey Guyton, Brittney Spencer and Madeline Edwards, Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, BRELAND and HARDY.

Country singers Trace Adkins, Ingrid Andress, Kelsea Ballerini, Deana Carter, Russell Dickerson, Florida Georgia Line, Alan Jackson, Lady A, Scotty McCreery, Darius Rucker, Lainey Wilson, and Trisha Yearwood were on hand to present during the ceremony.

Lauren Daigle, Faith Fennidy, Freddie Freeman, Amy Grant, Dulé Hill, Elle King, Zachary Levi, Hayley Orrantia, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Susan Sarandon, Saycon Sengbloh and Kurt Warner also made special appearances throughout the broadcast.

Hosted by Luke Bryan, the 2021 CMA Awards broadcasted live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 8/7c on ABC.
