Two of country music’s hottest newcomers Ashley Cooke and Jackson Dean unleashed a fiery new collaboration, titled “What Are You On Fire About.”

Cooke and Dean joined forces for the brand-new track, which is without a doubt deserving of the Song Of The Year title at upcoming award shows.

“What Are You On Fire About”

Co-written by Lainey Wilson, Jason Nix and Luke Dick, “What Are You On Fire About” is a song that questions their lover’s zest for life as it appears it’s not with the other individual.

Throughout the radio-ready anthem, Cooke effortlessly combines her silky smooth vocals with Dean’s raw and gritty timbre, resulting in a passionate and fiery blend.

“What are you on fire about?/ Tell me, how do you find your flame?/ What are you on fire about?/ Does your secret have a name?/ Is she hot burnin’ red?/ Does she mess up your bed/ And your head when she loves you and leaves?/ What are you on fire about?/ ‘Cause it sure as hell ain’t me,” the pair sing in perfect harmony on the tune’s chorus.

The pair turned up the heat even more with the song’s music video, which was filmed in Lebanon, Tennessee at dusk. Directed by Jay Curtis Miller and Caleb Donato, the clip alternates between scenes of the two vocalists cruising in the truck and performing by a fire, and while they may be by each other’s side in the video a feeling of emotional disconnect is apparent.

New Album, Shot In The Dark

“What Are You On Fire About” featuring Jackson Dean appears on Ashley Cooke’s debut album, Shot In The Dark, which arrived on July 21, 2023, via Big Loud Records/Back Blocks Music. In addition to Dean, Shot In The Dark also features duets with Colbie Caillat, Nate Smith and Brett Young.

The project boasts of 24 tracks, making it the longest debut album by a female Country artist to date.

“I’ve waited my whole life to release my debut album – growing up with this dream and finally getting to see it come to reality is something I can barely believe,” Cooke explained. “It’s not lost on me, I’m getting to share my diary with fans during a pivotal time in my life when I’m living out so many emotions & firsts every single day, and that’s what’s reflected in these 24 songs. The coolest part is that I’ll have this time capsule for the rest of my life and I hope listeners get transported to those specific moments and feelings in their own lives, too.”

“One of the coolest parts about releasing an album with 24 songs is that I can really dive deep into all the different sides of my experiences and feelings,” Cooke continued. “The songs I’m releasing today explore two different emotions I have experienced after relationships ended, both are ultimately about seeking happiness after it didn’t work out. Breakups are complicated, and ‘your place’ and ‘enough to leave’ both dig into that.”

Cooke co-wrote 20 of the 24 tracks on the album, which was first announced during her Grand Ole Opry performance on June 20.

Touring With Luke Bryan, To Launch First-Ever Headlining Tour

Ashley Cooke is currently on the road serving as support for Luke Bryan on his Country On Tour and will soon launch her first-ever headlining trek, dubbed the Shot In The Dark Tour.

“I feel like I’ve opened up for other people the last couple years, which has been the most fun time just getting to learn from them and, you know, kind of just be in their crowds, but I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun to get to hang out with people that are coming to see me and know the music,” Cooke previously told Country Now.

The fast-rising country star will kick off her debut headlining tour on August 23 at Holiday Inn Resort in Panama City, Florida. The trek, which will feature support from Matt Schuster and Vincent Mason, will continue through November 10, where the Shot In The Dark Tour wraps up in Rome, Georgia at Peaches.

Many of Cooke’s headlining shows are already sold-out, so make sure to get your tickets fast!
