Amy Grant has broken her silence one month into her recovery from the bicycle accident that left her hospitalized in late July 2022.
The “Baby, Baby” singer took to social media on Saturday afternoon (Aug. 27) to graciously thank fans for sending her well-wishes and support during her recovery.
“I want to say thank you to everyone who has written me a note, sent flowers or gifts, or said a prayer on my behalf,” Grant wrote. ”I’m one month into a recovery that has held so many unexpected hidden gifts.”
Grant continued to tell fans that she has taken the guidance of medical personnel to take it easy.
“On the advice of my doctors and other friends who have been through similar experiences of recovery, I am choosing to give myself the gift of a very simple fall season,” Grant added.
Grant then told fans that she is excited to return to the stage this winter.
“I look forward to making music with Michael W. and Vince during the Christmas season. With deep appreciation and joy…. xo Amy,” she concluded.
Grant was transported to the emergency room after the accident which occurred in Nashville near the Harpeth Hills Golf Course on July 27.
The hitmaker was reportedly wearing a helmet, however, she sustained cuts, lacerations, and bruises in the accident.
Her husband, Country Music Hall of Famer Vince Gill, later revealed that Grant was “knocked unconscious for 10 or 15 minutes” as a result of the incident.
During his recent four-night residency at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, he said, “My bride Amy is doing fine.”
He later added, “[My wife Amy] had a bicycle wreck last Wednesday over in Percy Warner Park, and thank God she was wearing a helmet.”
Following the incident, Grant was forced to postpone her upcoming fall tour dates.
As a result of the incident and on strict “doctor’s orders,” the hitmaker was also forced to postpone all concerts that were scheduled to take place in August, including her shows in Knoxville, Chattanooga, Johnson City and Wilmington. Those concerts will now take place in April and June of 2023.
Her management revealed that all of Grant’s previously announced tour dates for September and October would be rescheduled.
Grant’s manager, Jennifer Cooke, shared an update on the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member’s condition and explained the reason for the postponement.
“Amy is getting stronger every day. Just as she did after her heart surgery, we are amazed at how fast she heals,” Cooke began to explain. ”However, although she is doing much better, we have made the difficult decision to postpone her fall tour so she can concentrate on her recovery and rebuild her stamina. She wants to be able to give 100% when she tours and, unfortunately, we do not think that will be the case by the time rehearsals start for the fall dates.”
Cooke continued to share that the six-time GRAMMY Award winner will return to the road in November of 2022.
“She will resume touring with her Christmas tour with Michael W. Smith and her annual “Christmas At The Ryman” residency with her husband Vince Gill,” Cooke added. ”Amy would like to extend her gratitude for all the many good wishes and prayers offered since the accident. She feels the impact of the collective good will extended her way. Thank you.”
All concerts originally taking place in September and October of 2022 will be rescheduled to February – April 2023 and tickets will be honored at the new dates.
