Alexandra Kay’s dream came true when she was invited to join Country music legends Tracy Lawrence and Clay Walker on tour. Now that it has come to an end, the Nashville newcomer reflected on her fun experience and the important lessons she learned along the way.
As one final farewell to their time together, Kay shared a photo of her, Lawrence and Walker together with the caption, “Cheers to my last night on the road with these two incredible artists I’ve looked up to for most of my life. A few minutes in conversation with these two made me realize how much I still have to learn about this business, and they shared it all with me. Thank you, @therealtracylawrence and @officialclaywalker for allowing me to step on your stage and do the thing I love the most. You are full of class and wisdom and it was an absolute honor to share the stage with you both! Here’s to more in the future.”
While on the road, Kay made sure to share some of their best moments together, like when they performed Walker’s hit “Then What” on stage together, and of course, making TikTok’s during rehearsals. Lawrence and Walker crashed the making of one of Kay’s popular Coffee Cover segments on TikTok, which is how they actually first discovered her on the app.
Last month, she posted a mashup of Lawrence and Walker’s hit songs including “She Won’t Be Lonely Long,” “Paint Me A Birmingham,” “Texas Tornado,” “If I Could Make A Living,” “Find Out Who Your Friends Are,” and more.
Since they were so impressed with her covers, they decided to duet the video to let her know. Lawrence and Walker were all smiles as they watched Kay belt it out. She responded to their reaction saying, “thank you all for continuing to make my dreams come true on this app!”
While she was making her coffee in preparation for the long day of rehearsals ahead, Kay was joined by Lawrence and then Walker in person this time, to sing a beautiful rendition of “Paint Me A Birmingham.”
@alexandrakaymusic didn’t see that one coming 😱 can’t wait to see y’all this weekend!
This is the same song that she covered on a previous TikTok, which earned her recognition from her touring partners.
“Well deserved! Can’t wait to have you on the road with us,” Walker wrote followed by Lawrence’ comment, “Excited to have you out on the road with us!”
@alexandrakaymusic #duet with @claywalker WHATTTTT!?
Since Randall King was also part of the touring team, he joined Kay, Lawrence and Walker to sing an acoustic version of “She Won’t Be Lonely Long.” At the end of the video shared on social media, King asked the two veteran touring artists what they can expect the tour to be like. They responded in a burst of laughter and a fist bump, which was probably not quite the answer King was looking for, but it was the best way to describe their exciting journey together.
@claywalker This is going to be a great show! @tracy_lawrence will be performing on stage at the same time! We will by joined by @alexandrakaymusic @Randall King #countrymusic #acousticcovers
Kay doesn’t have much time for a break because she recently announced that later this year, she will be heading on the road with another one of her musical heroes, Tim McGraw, on his McGraw 2022 Tour. When she got the “call of a lifetime” from McGraw himself asking her to join his massive headlining trek, Kay cried tears of joy. “I’ll make ya proud!” she said to Tim McGraw in her Instagram post. “Thank you, Jesus…what a dream!”
