Alexander Ludwig is officially 5 years sober!
On Sunday (April 23), The Hunger Games actor and rising country star took to social media to share a video celebrating the sobriety milestone in addition to he and his wife’s anniversary.
“My mom and my wife are inside right now and we’re celebrating two things… One of my five years of sobriety birthday and the other is on this same day three years ago is the day I went on my first date with my wife, which I think is pretty serendipitous,” Ludwig began while sitting on his front porch in Austin, Texas.
Alexander Ludwig Knew He Has A Problem That Needed To Be Fixed
He also admitted that he was “so lost” and “confused” just five years ago, but he knew he had a problem that needed to be fixed.
“It’s pretty crazy to me that five years ago to the day, I was so lost, so confused and so scared about where my life would go,” Ludwig continued. “All I knew was that I had an issue and a problem that needed to be fixed.”
“I’ve lost a lot of friends to this disease, so many people didn’t make it and I don’t really know why, because there’s so many reasons why that should have been me and not them,” he added. “I don’t want to make this video as, like, congratulatory to myself — it’s really just for anybody that needs to see this.”
Encouraged His Followers To Seek Help If They Struggle With Addiction
Ludwig went on to encourage those struggling with addiction to ask for help as it could make a positive change in their life.
“If you’re struggling, be brave enough to ask for help and take it from me, there really is hope at the end of the road, there really is a light at the end of the tunnel. It’s actually staggering to me how much has changed in my life since I got out until now,” Alexander Ludwig said. “It’s amazing what can happen when you decide to love yourself and commit to loving yourself and to growing every day as a human being as opposed to satiating these impulses we all have.”
His Sobriety Date Is Also The Date Of He And His Wife’s Anniversary
Alexander Ludwig’s five-year sobriety “birthday” also happens to be he and his wife’s third anniversary. He married his wife Lauren Ludwig in January 2021 and the couple are now expecting their first child, a baby girl, this Spring.

The couple announced the exciting news that they are expecting their rainbow baby back in February of 2023.
“It’s been a long road, and we wanted to wait until things were looking promising this time around. Thank you guys for all of the support. We couldn’t be more grateful. ❤️ and if you were wondering…yam is stoked,” Ludwig wrote at the time. “@laurendludwig Baby Ludwig coming May 2023 🥹❤️”
Their pregnancy comes after three miscarriages.
“As a lot of you know it’s been a long road for @alexanderludwig and myself,” Lauren added. “We suffered 3 losses before this one but each one of those losses taught us about ourselves and each other. To everyone out there who has suffered miscarriages before, there is light on the other side of your journey. You are not alone.”
The pair also shared stripped down naked for a maternity photo shoot in celebration of the 32nd week of pregnancy.
“It’s been a long road- there’s times I don’t know how to deal with these emotions- so grateful to have my rock solid wife supporting me through these 32 weeks of pregnancy. Almost there. *also- thats my hand.”
Alexander and Lauren Ludwig’s first child arrives in May of 2023.
