Kate Hudson‘s fans know her as an actress and businesswoman, but she’s now hoping to add another item to that list — artist. On December 28, Hudson completed her very first performance, which was held at Bad Harriet in Aspen, Colorado.

Hudson Delivered Her First-Ever Live Concert Just Days Before New Year’s Eve

The 44-year-old Glass Onion star shared a series of photos and videos from the event on Instagram, starting with a snap of herself smiling and sitting on a stool while singing and dressed in a flowing floral gown and cowboy boots.

Next was a video of the mom of three performing a soulful cover of Sinéad O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” and Hudson also shared clips of herself singing Chris Stapleton’s “White Horse,” Patty Griffin’s “When It Don’t Come Easy,” Ryan Adams’ track “Come Pick Me Up” and Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night” from the Barbie soundtrack.

Another video showcased Hudson talking to the crowd before performing Tom Petty’s “You Don’t Know How It Feels.” “It’s interesting in an intimate space because you’re all staring at me,” she said. “I’m used to my living room where no one is staring at me. Let’s do it.”

Ready To Embark On A Musical Career

Hudson ended her post with a shot of the night’s set list and a caption reflecting on her gratitude for the show and hopes for the new year.

“Well, on the eve of a new year, I say bring on 2024!” she wrote. “I vow to sing and play and love and sing and love some more! Life is too short to not lean in to the things you love. Art art and more art. Entertainment and places and outlets we can lose ourselves in. We need it and I’m here for it. So here’s to looking forward and not backward.”

Hudson also thanked her fans for their support, adding, “Love you all and hope you join me on this adventure cause a winds a blowing and I’m going with it. HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE! Please be safe and loving to all (thank you, @hoteljeromeauberge, for a Bad Harriet evening that was an absolute blast. To be in my hometown and have a first fun and joyous gig was dreamy).”

The post also garnered attention from country superstars Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Rita Wilson and more.

Hudson Previously Showcased Her Vocal Prowess

Fans have heard Hudson sing before — she starred in the 2009 musical Nine and the 2021 film, Music, and appeared in multiple episodes of Glee. She has also shown off her vocal ability during various television appearances, including NBC’s That’s My Jam in 2022.

That same year, Hudson posted two photos of herself performing inside a rehearsal space with a band and shared in her caption that she was working on an album. “Finally realized it’s time to say f#%! it and saaaannngg!!!!!” she wrote, adding the hashtags #albumincoming and #myikigai.

Actress Is Recording An Album That She’s “Really Proud Of”

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in December 2022, Hudson shared that she has been writing music since she was a teen but never shared it, a mindset she changed due to the pandemic.

“You know, I had this thing [during] COVID … Every time you’re doing interviews, people are like, ‘Do you have any regrets?’ I go, ‘I’m early 40s… not yet.’ But during COVID, I was like, ‘You know, what am I doing?’” she told Fallon, adding that music would arrive “next year.”

“I just thought that would be one of my great regrets [and] I have no expectations,” she added. “[I] just want to put a record out, and so I’m doing it. And I’m really proud of it. I can’t wait.”

In January 2023, it was reported that Hudson had signed with Nashville-based management firm Sandbox Entertainment Group and manager Jason Owen.
