Like it or not, rock music has almost died in the 2010s. Metal, punk, and hard rock have been pushed back into the underground by the music industry, losing popularity faster than ever before. The only bands that are still playing are the ones dating back to the 80s and 90s, but even they lost a huge chunk of their fan base.
Everyone was ready to forget about rock, but it looks like rock is getting popular once more. As Jack Black says in one of his songs – you can’t kill the metal, and it looks like he was right. 2019 was one of the best years for the genre, but it was just a hint of things we can expect during the 2020s. Post Malone and similar artists use rock in their music, so we’re bound to see an increase in its popularity in the near future.
Rock will become relevant once more
Even though rock is perceived as a genre that’s all about sex, drugs, and rock and roll, it’s still one of the most popular genres to date. People who like it are most likely to play online sex games all day and headbang to the hardest riffs all night. One thing is for sure, rock is back to stay.
Hugely popular bands like My Chemical Romance and Rage Against the Machine have announced their return to the scene. RATM is one of the biggest bands in the history of the genre, and it will surely make millions of people interested in this music once again.

The music industry keeps evolving every year. The 2000s and 2010s were dominated by pop and rap music. Most newer generations grew up without knowing about legendary bands from before their times. The few bands that kept on playing during this time were nowhere nearly popular as they were a few decades before.
Surprisingly enough, hip hop artists of today have strong roots in rock music. Artists like Ghostmane, Post Malone, SCARLXRD, and many others often use rock in their music. They exposed the younger generations to a genre that is all but forgotten, bringing it back from the dead. No one thought that such a thing is possible, but here we are. That’s great news for all those who love the sound of an electric guitar. Sure, many people can’t stand the sound of rock guitars, which pushes metal all the way to the back. Tool is back after more than a decade
Tool is definitely one of the biggest rock/metal bands of all time. Their incredible feeling for music and the powerful messages they promote won millions of fans a decade or two ago. Tool reached legendary status with their 10,000 days album, but the band stopped playing together a few years after that.
Finally, after 13 years of waiting, Tool releases Fear Inoculum, their latest album which took the world by storm. The album was accepted by everyone in the music industry and it quickly found its way to number 6 on the US Top Charts. If that’s not a sign of rock rising back to the top, nothing is. Xxx games are the only thing that’s even more popular than Tool’s album these days.

The 20s are looking promising so far when it comes to rock music. We can only wait to see the return of some of the most iconic bands in history. They will surely bring something new to the table, and rock fans around the world will once again get the respect they deserve.
