Sacramento metal group, Waves of Distortion. always wants to deliver on their promise of heavy music with a balance of a melodic groove, and they did just that with their new album, Race Against Time, released independently on March 21st.
According to the band, the album is about being broken down by influences such as addiction, infidelity or societal, or feeling broken by your own mortality, insecurity, weaknesses or self-destructive behaviors.
With lyrics like, “They’re sitting behind their winded weakened eyes just to feel again,” and “This craving owns you / We cannot defeat it, when will it stop,” Waves of Distortion’s latest single, “R.A.T”, is all about the world crumbling around you to the point where you feel like giving up.
But despite the dark lyrical content, there’s a positive message in the end.
“The key to overcoming is the realization that we all feel broken in some way and the pain reminds us that we are more than our foibles,” says Waves of Distortion.
When people listen to this song, the band hopes that listeners are motivated to push forward with their own struggles, and never give up. They believes that everyone needs to lean on each other for support and work together to raise each other up.
