WATCH: Morgan Wallen Sings Duet With Larry Fleet & Covers His Favorite Chris Stapleton Song Live In New York City

Morgan Wallen officially launched his highly-anticipated headlining tour, dubbed The Dangerous Tour, on Wednesday evening (Feb. 9) with back-to-back sold out shows at the “world’s most famous arena,” Madison Square Garden in New York City. During night two of his mini-residency in New York City, the East Tennessee native didn’t want to stop playing. So he added a cover song into his already impressive set list.

On Thursday evening (Feb. 10), the “Wasted On You” singer was nearing the end of his 90+ minute set, when he decided he didn’t want the show to end just quite yet. So, he threw in a cover of Chris Stapleton’s “Whiskey And You.”

“That was supposed to be my last song, but I just wanna keep singing,” Wallen told the capacity crowd. “You guys are awesome man, I’m going to stay for a couple more songs.

Wallen continued, “I don’t know the last time we sang this song. We probably sang this song about three years ago, we definitely didn’t practice it, but it’s one of my favorite songs.

Joined by his band, the country hitmaker then went into a spur of the moment cover of the Stapleton tune.

“I don’t know where the hell that just came from, but I appreciate y’all letting me do it,” Wallen said as he concluded the cover.

Watch the cover below.

Co-written by Stapleton alongside Lee Thomas Miller, “Whiskey And You” is a track that appears on Stapleton’s debut album, Traveller (2015).

Wallen also joined Larry Fleet, a singer whose voice is often compared to Stapleton, during his second night at Madison Square Garden. He and Fleet performed a duet of Fleet’s single, “Where I Find God,” a track that appears on the rising star’s latest project, Stack of Records.

Wallen is currently in the midst of his eight-month Dangerous Tour, which is sold out in most markets, and features support from special guests HARDY and Larry Fleet.
