Michael Ray’s EP release concert was a star-studded event!

Ray celebrated the release of his just-released EP, Higher Education, with a special edition of his infamous HonkyTonk Tuesday, live from the Nashville Palace on Tuesday (Aug. 31). During the EP release concert celebration, some of the collaborators that appear on the project made a surprise appearance to perform their collaborations with Ray.

Throughout the 45-minute concert, Tim Montana, ZZ Top’s Billy F. Gibbons, Kid Rock and Lee Brice made special appearances to perform “Higher Education” with Ray. You can watch the star-studded performance of the title track to his EP at the 1:00:18 mark in the below YouTube video.

“We have one more song… I’m going to surprise you guys with a little something. Y’all welcome by boy Tim Montana, ZZ Top Billy F. Gibbons and my boy Kid Rock,” Ray told the capacity crowd in the smoke-filled Nashville Palace.

Following the performance, Ray told the crowd about his first-ever CD purchase which was a Kid Rock album.

“The first cd I ever brought with my own money, I brought off a kid on a middle school bus. He said ‘hey bud you know how to play guitar right? You’re learning?’ I said ‘yeah man,’  he said ‘bring $2 tomorrow I got a cd for you.’ I said ‘Done,’” Ray told the crowd after the epic performance. “Got a $1, borrowed a $1 from my dad and I brought my first cd which was Kid Rock’s Bawitdaba and now how I taught his ass to somehow be friends with and show up at the Palace.”

Ray recently released his 7-track EP, Higher Education, which features “Picture” and his newly-released autobiographical song, “Just The Way I Am” and his chart-climbing single “Whiskey And Rain.” See the full track list below and pick up his new album HERE.
