Last weekend, Jason Aldean returned to the road for the first time in over a year on his highly-anticipated Back In The Saddle Tour.
The country hitmaker and Georgia native played an electrifying 22-song set at Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, NY on Saturday, August 7, which prompted a chant from the capacity crowd. During his lengthy set, Aldean went on comment on fans lack of wearing masks, telling the crowd “you know the coolest thing about all this, the coolest thing to me right now is i’m looking out right now at all you guys and I don’t see one f*cking mask.”
Aldean’s excitement of returning to the stage and seeing his fans faces again (without masks) for the first time in over a year prompted a thunderous U.S.A. chant in the midst of a roaring applause.
“And I got to be honest my favorite thing about coming back, it’s been 17 months since me and the guys were on tour last,” Aldean told the crowd.
The “Blame It On You” singer also joked with his fans saying, “this is our first weekend back and who knows what’s going to happen next week. So, shit we might play all night tonight, I don’t know cause I don’t if they’re going to let us play next week.”
He concluded his anti-mask rant exclaiming, “I’ve had just about enough of that shit.”
Aldean’s comments come as the United States faces another spike in COVID-19 cases, reportedly fueled by the Delta variant. According to data from John Hopkins University, the United States has reported over 1.5 million new cases of the virus in the month of August so far.
