Harry Styles stripped down to his underwear in his just-released new music video “As It Was,” marking his first new material in nearly three years.
On Thursday, March 31, the One Direction singer shared the first single from his upcoming new project with a music video to accompany it that has sent fans into a frenzy. The catchy tune, which is an ’80s-inspired synth pop anthem, will have you wanting to sing along and dance upon first listen.
“In this world, it’s just us / You know it’s not the same as it was / In this world, it’s just us / You know it’s not the same as it was / As it was, as it was / You know it’s not the same,” Styles sings on the chorus.
Directed by Ukrainian Tanu Muino and filmed in London, the clip begins as Styles, wearing a scarf and bright red trench coat, welcomes fans into his house after his young goddaughter Ruby Winston is heard saying, “come on Harry, we want to say Goodnight to you.” He then strips out of the trench coat and into a sequinned one-piece red jumpsuit. As the clip continues, Styles is seen showing off his dance moves alongside a young lady in blue.
“Shooting [Harry Styles] was bittersweet, as it was one of the happiest days of my life, but on the second day of the shoot, my country Ukraine was invaded, so you can imagine the insane emotions we had while shooting,” Muino shared in a statement. “Me and my team from Ukraine poured so much love into this video, and you can see it onscreen.”
