Church co-wrote “Stick That In Your Country Song” alongside Davis Naish and Jeffrey Steele. The song is the lead single from his highly-anticipated new album, which will be the follow-up to his 2018 release, Desperate Man.
In the studio video, you can find Church sitting with his longtime producer Jay Joyce working on the unapologetic anthem.
Church sings in the chorus:
“Stick that in your country song
Take that one to number one
Get the whole world singing along
Stick that in your country song
Sing about the man coming back from war
Twenty-three going on 54
He lost a friend, his sight, his hands
Baby girl, he’ll never see again”
“I try to put myself in the most uncomfortable situations,” Church explained at the CRS “Chasing Creativity” keynote event earlier this year. “Making it hard, and making sure no one is mailing it in. That’s always something we have to push ourselves to chase. For me, it’s very elusive. With creativity, the harder you try and stress, the more it doesn’t happen.”
Never afraid to speak his truth, The catchy new song begs and taunts for some “real truths” in country music, which he sings directed towards his fellow country singers.
