Danielle Bradbery’s stunning cover of “Shallow” made yet another splash as the music video premiered live on Viacom’s Times Square billboard yesterday, May 15, as well as across a variety of CMT and MTV platforms. Her take on the song made famous by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper features fellow-Texan Parker McCollum. Watch the sultry video https://DanielleBradbery.lnk.
“When I heard ‘Shallow’ from A Star Is Born for the first time, I was blown away. The lyrics, arrangement, Gaga’s voice and the emotion… I was just speechless,” shared Bradbery. “Yet as a singer, I couldn’t wait to find a partner to record this song with.”
The fresh take on the popular song is praised by Billboard as a “memorable cover [that] highlights Bradbery’s powerful vocals alongside McCollum’s spot-on harmonies.” Sounds Like Nashville agrees, noting that it “drips with emotion and feels perfectly suited for a country approach… Bradbery’s voice swells and rolls over the deeply romantic lyrics, while McCollum’s contribution feels both strong and tender at the same time.”
Bradbery also recently performed the song live at Stagecoach, offering a praise-worthy performance on the Mane Stage despite triple-digit temperatures. “A lot of people covered ‘Shallow,’” noted the Desert Sun, “and if it was a contest, the best version came from Danielle Bradbery.” The Coachella Valley Independent also praised her “star turn” as “one of the weekend’s highlights.”
Bradbery will continue touring fairs and festivals throughout the summer before starring on the CMA INTRODUCING NASHVILLE TOUR in the UK and Europe this October as she writes new music for her next album. “Shallow” follows “Yours Truly: 2018,” a reflective year-end project which featured her similarly-popular takes on Ariana Grande’s “God Is a Woman,” Post Malone’s “Psycho” and Kacey Musgraves’ “Slow Burn.”
