A torrential rainstorm may have damaged his gear and caused a delay in the show, but Cole Swindell didn’t let the weather stop him from performing for his fans in Doswell, Virginia.
The country superstar performed a stripped-down set at K95 COUNTRYFEST (presented by Afterhours Concerts) on Friday, June 17 at The Meadow Event Park. The show also featured performances from Callista Clark, Travis Denning, and Walker Montgomery.
According to Country Cast, Swindell’s gear was damaged by the torrential rain that caused the concert to be delayed, forcing him and his band to improvise and deliver an unforgettable acoustic performance for those in attendance who weathered the storm.
After performing “Middle Of A Memory,” the Georgia native told the crowd that he’ll be giving them a truly one-of-a-kind experience.
“We’re just going to strip it down and do these songs a little acoustic for you tonight. One thing you can say for sure, y’all are getting a one-of-a-kind show,” the “She Had Me At Heads Carolina” singer said, before adding, ”We won’t do another one of these for a long time, so let’s enjoy ourselves and just have fun y’all.”
He went on to promise fans in attendance that he was going to give them a show they won’t soon forget and expressed his gratitude for staying for his set despite a rain delay.
“I promise you the fact that y’all stayed around to support us, we’re going to make it worth your while, we’re going to have fun tonight,” Swindell said.
Swindell’s new single, “She Had Me At Head’s Carolina,” recently impacted Country radio on Tuesday, June 21, and was the second most-added song with 60 adds on Mediabase this week and a total of 83 historic adds.
Additionally, the country hitmaker recently announced the second leg of his Down To The Bar Tour, dubbed Back Down To The Bar.
The trek, which will feature support from Ashley Cooke and Dylan Marlowe, will kick off on September 23 at Floores Country Store in Helotes, TX and runs through November. The tour also includes Swindell’s first headlining gig at The Ryman Auditorium.
“We had so much fun on the Down To The Bar Tour in the spring that I decided we just needed to go Back Down To The Bar in the fall!” Swindell said laughing. “I couldn’t NOT take Ashley Cooke back out with us on this tour because she is just incredible and fans love her. I’ve also been watching what Dylan [Marlowe] has been doing for a while now so I’m so excited he is going to join us. Touring has just had a new meaning this past year and I can’t wait to show the fans what we have in store for them on the Back Down To The Bar Tour!”
