Beyoncé paid tribute to the late Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant at the Bryant Memorial today (Feb. 24) in Los Angeles at STAPLES Center.

She performed two songs at the memorial service including “XO” and “Halo,” using a choir dressed in all white for beautiful, emotion-filled versions of the songs. She told the crowd “I’m here because I love Kobe, and this was one of his favorite songs.”

Beyonce and Kobe were friends for decades since her Destiny’s Child days, and today she celebrated their friendship as she kicked off the memorial celebration of his life.

Kobe (41) and Gianna Bryant (13) were killed in a helicopter crash on January 26th, along with five other people onboard. A celebration of their lives was held today (Feb. 24) at STAPLES Center, home to Bryant’s LA Lakers basketball team. Among those in attendance were not only Beyoncé, but also Snoop Dogg, Kayne West, Jennifer Lopez, Alicia Keys and many of others alongside stars from sports including NBA star, Michael Jordan.

Watch the emotional tribute below:

The day of Kobe and Gianna Bryant’s passing, Beyoncé shared on Instagram, “I will continue to diligently pray for your Queens. You are deeply missed beloved Kobe.”
