WATCH: Alan Jackson, Lee Ann Womack Pay Tribute To Loretta Lynn With Cover Of Iconic Lynn Duet

Alan Jackson and Lee Ann Womack joined forces for a special performance, honoring country icon Loretta Lynn.

The superstar pair paid tribute to Lynn with a cover of “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man” on Wednesday (Aug. 25) during the 2021 ACM Honors award ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee at The Ryman Auditorium

Lynn was honored alongside Gretchen Peters and Curly Putman with the ACM Poet’s Award and although she was unable to attend the star-studded event at the historic Nashville venue, she did thank fans via a special audio message during the event as well as in a Tweet following the show.

“And it’s our absolute pleasure to present the ACM Poets Award to Miss Loretta Lynn,” Womack told the capacity crowd before a special message from Lynn played over the sound system.

“Hello everybody, this is Loretta Lynn, thank you ACM for giving me the Poet Award. I love you and that’s the greatest award I can get,” Lynn said in a virtual message during the ACM Honors ceremony.

After the show, the “Coal Miner’s Daughter” singer expressed her appreciation for the honor on Twitter saying, “It’s such a huge honor to me to receive the Poet’s Award from @ACMawards tonight at the #ACMHonors show at the Ryman. Thank y’all so much.” The tweet was shared alongside hashtags: #StillWomanEnough #NeverRetire.

Additionally, Jackson and Womack also paid tribute to RAC Clark, who received the ACM Mae Boren Axton Service Award during the event, with a special performance of George Strait’s “Murder On Music Row.”

Carly Pearce also paid tribute to the iconic country singer with a performance of her song “Dear Miss Loretta,” a track that appears on her upcoming project, 29: Written In Stone.

Hosted by Pearce, the 2021 ACM Honors also featured performances by Ronnie Dunn, Trace Adkins, Caylee Hammack, Lauren Alaina, HARDY, Devin Dawson, Raelynn, Chris Janson, several prolific songwriters and many others.
