Travis Barker spoke out for the first time after being hospitalized earlier this week with “severe life-threatening pancreatitis.”

The Blink-182 drummer took to his Instagram stories on Saturday afternoon (July 2) to share an update on his health with fans.

“I went in for an endoscopy Monday feeling great. But after dinner, I developed excruciating pain and have been hospitalized ever since,” the statement began. “During the endoscopy, I had a very small polyp removed right in a very sensitive area, usually handled by specialists, which damaged a critical pancreatic drainage tube. This resulted in severe life-threatening pancreatitis.”

He went on to share his gratitude for the medical team who corrected the issue.

“I am so very, very grateful that with intensive treatment I am currently much better,” Barker concluded the statement with a prayer hands emoji.

According to TMZ, Barker and his wife Kourtney Kardashian went to West Hills Hospital on Tuesday morning (June 28) for an undisclosed health issue that Barker was experiencing.

Following his visit to West Hills Hospital in Los Angeles, California, Barker was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he reportedly remains.

At the time, the outlet also reported that “the medical crew at West Hills felt Barker needed additional, because he was then taken by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.”

It is now known that the world-renowned drummer was diagnosed with pancreatitis after an endoscopy. Following his endoscopy, where he had a small polyp removed, the procedure damaged a critical pancreatic drainage tube.

While it remains unclear what Barker’s condition is, the award-winning drummer says he is “currently much better.”
