Thomas Rhett Shines A Light Through The Darkness with ‘Be A Light’ on ‘CMT Celebrates Our Heroes’

Thomas Rhett shined through the darkness of the novel coronavirus pandemic with his performance of “Be A Light” live from his home in Nashville during Wednesday (June 3) evening’s two-hour CMT Celebrates Our Heroes: An Artists of the Year Special.

“I’ve been quarantining with my family here at my house in Nashville, and I just wanted to give a huge shoutout to both of my kids Teachers, who they had been on Zoom calls with two times a week with, trying to keep both of our kids brains engaged.” Rhett expressed prior to his performance. “Cause without them, I would be a terrible Teacher, so I’m super appreciative to them for helping our kids through this weird time.”

Rhett’s full even band joined him from their homes for the touching performance.

“I wrote ‘Be A Light’ last year as a way to process negativity and sadness I was seeing in the world,” the singer/songwriter shared in a statement upon the song’s release.

The recorded track features Rhett alongside country superstars Reba McEntire, Hillary Scott, Chris Tomlin and Keith Urban. Rhett co-wrote “Be A Light” alongside Josh Miller, Josh Thompson and Matt Dragstrem.
