Bert McCracken, the legendary front man of Emo-Rock icons The Used, has officially teamed up with Five Star Extracts for an exclusive line of Cannabis products.
“So excited to be teaming up with Five Star Extracts to try to help people in need with an exciting and delicious array of cannabis products. Five Star is committed to compassion and their story shows that,” shares McCracken on the partnership. “We hope to kill some of the stigma that has surrounded cannabis for so long. I cannot wait for everyone to check out what we’ve got coming!”
For a look into some of Bert’s history with cannabis and sobriety as well as his journey through the music industry, check out this video:
Five Star was created by two brothers Eric and Jason Winkler in 2016 after seeing the positive effects cannabis played in helping their 94-year-old grandfather get off pain meds after a terrible fall. They watched him improve through cannabis and get back to his happy and loving self, enjoying his last years with family and not stuck in bed on pain meds.
To kick things off with this partnership, Five Star is releasing a new version of their iconic Flavored Syrup Tincture, “The Taste of Peach”, exclusively with Connected locations throughout California. This product contains 800 mgs of THC in a water-soluble formula ensuring that consumers can maintain any level of healthy cannabis use during these times without having to smoke or vape.
Residents of California can find locations near them as well as delivery options for Five Star products at https://weedmaps.com/brands/
“I feel that we are extremely lucky to be working with someone like Bert, who’s authenticity is unmatched and who is an artist with a story that will resonate with so many through his journey with cannabis,”
shares Jason Winkler Co-Founder & CEO of Five Star Extracts.
Over the last few years, Five Star has been about unique and proven product expansion while building a strong team including partner Shawhin Maghbouleh and a group of Board Advisors that come from different backgrounds from cannabis industry experts, big box retail executives to music managers, producers, and A&Rs in the music space, such as John Reese, Johnnie Hernandez, Jerry Edouard, Daniel Griesemer and Chris Ducar.

The Used are gearing up to release their 8th full length studio album, Heartwork, on April 24th via Big Noise. Fans can pre-save the new album and stream the new single today at https://theused.ffm.to/
Heartwork marks the return of John Feldmann to The Used family as he is producing the album and also the head of A&R at Big Noise.
“I couldn’t be more honored or grateful to have one of my favorite bands of all time at my record label! They are one of the most influential bands of the last 20 years and we are making a career-defining album at the minute,” shares Feldmann. “They are one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen and Bert is quite possibly the best singer I’ve ever worked with. This has been a dream of mine since I met them in 2001.”
Feldmann signed The Used to Reprise Records in January 2002, one short year after the band formed in Orem, Utah. He also produced some of the band’s most monumental albums including their self-titled debut, Maybe Memories, In Love and Death, Lies for the Liars, Vulnerable and Imaginar
On Heartwork, McCracken shares “The new album plays on the emotions, the sincerity, and the vulnerability of the first record and In Love and Death, with a little bit of the flair from Lies for the Liars.”
Twenty years ago, The Used was brought to life and have since released a collection of albums that shaped the space of the alternative rock scene. High energy live shows, gut wrenching relatable lyrics, and melodies that blended pop sensibility and hard rock was the perfect combination to make an everlasting impression on fans globally.
