Hawkins, the global rock icon joined Foo Fighters in 1997 and played on nine of the band’s albums. The 15-time GRAMMY Award winner was recognized for his hard work in 2021 when he and the band were indicted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame by Paul McCartney. Not only was Hawkins a master musician, but he was also so passionate and loved by millions around the world.
Hawkins did what he loved to do most up until he passed this year on March 25 at 50 years old. He was on tour with the Foo Fighters when he was found dead in a hotel located in the town of Chapinero in Bogotá, Colombia with 10 substances in his system, according to authorities.
A few days after the sad news spread, the band shared a statement on social media saying that they would be canceling the duration of their tour and in June, they announced the tribute concert.
“For our dear friend, our badass bandmate, our beloved brother… Foo Fighters and The Hawkins family bring you the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts,” they wrote on socials.
Many fans left their sincere condolences to the singer’s family members and bandmates. Now, these fans as well as many of the musicians Hawkins idolized throughout his lifetime and members of the Foo Fighters will come together in celebration of his memory and legacy.
Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock will make an appearance along with Travis Barker, Nandi Bushell, Martin Chambers, Chris Chaney and Wolfgang Van Halen, who are just a few of the rock and pop legends that will take the stage of the global tribute concert. They musicians will perform a variety of songs that Hawkins loved and that he was best known for. More surprise guests and appearances have yet to be Announced.
Organizers say that the concert is a “celebration of the life, music and love of one of modern music’s most beloved figures.”

The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert will be aired live on Paramount+ and its global network of channels from Wembley Stadium in London on September 3.
How & When To Watch?
Directed by Joel Gallen and Produced by Emer Patten at EP-PIC Films & Creative, The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert will be available to stream live beginning September 3 at 10:30am CT on Paramount+ (U.S. only), MTV YouTube channels (globally) and Pluto TV (Internationally).
The show can also be viewed on demand via Paramount+ (globally) beginning September 3 and on Pluto TV and MTV Youtube channels beginning the week of September 5.
Special editions of the concert will air in prime time across Paramount’s broadcast and cable channels globally:
- CBS Television Network will broadcast highlights from the tribute concert for an hour on September 3rd at 10/9am CT.
- MTV will also air the one-hour special across its channels around the world starting in Latin America on September 3 and other international territories on September 4th.
An extended two-hour special will air globally on MTV Entertainment beginning in September.
