State Champs are gearing up for next Friday’s State Champs Unplugged release and are excited to share a live music video of their latest single “10 AM.”

“10 AM” highlights the high-energy band’s ability to slow it down a bit with front man Derek DiScanio sharing “10 AM might be the most experimental song we’ve written and recorded.” He continues by saying “However, it stemmed from a simple idea to have a mellow, acoustic, feel-good vibe, and mix it with lyrical frustration about questioning your worth in a relationship and unrequited love. We were able to bring in some unique electronic elements in post production to top everything off and we’re excited to see what everyone thinks of the final product”

“10 AM” joins “Criminal (Acoustic)” and “Crying Out Loud” from the forthcoming EP State Champs Unplugged, due out August 14, 2020 via Pure Noise Records, which is available to pre-order today at https://smarturl.it/scunplugged.

State Champs Unplugged, dropping in time for the band’s 10-year anniversary, is much more than a set of stripped-down reimagined bangers. Instead, the EP offers up four brand new tracks crafted specifically for this setting, plus a surprising reworking of “Criminal” and a moving new take on “Dead and Gone.” It’s a record that’s reflective of the diverse listening habits of the foursome, unapologetic about their love of everything from Pop to Country without sacrificing the upbeat enthusiasm of the central influences that first moved their collective souls.

“The Unplugged EP is special for us for many reasons, one main reason being the writing process. We feel like we really went back to our roots, you know, just the band, in a room with an acoustic guitar, writing songs and having fun,” shared DiScanio on the upcoming EP. “We tend to execute our best material in an environment that is stress free and organic. Our fans have been asking for new acoustic, stripped down material for quite some time, we’re happy to say it’s here.”

This will be the first taste of new music from State Champs since their 2018 release Living Proof. The 13-track collection is the most ambitious and cohesive work in the band’s catalog. While securing the #9 Top Current Albums, #28 Top 200 and #3 Rock Billboard charting positions, this album has seen impressive praise from fans and press alike.

State Champs has always embraced the idea of getting their music in front of as many people as possible. They aren’t running away from the sound they’ve established; if anything, it’s that scrappy punk spirit that drives them to continue to reach further and further. They’ve done pop arena tours, metal tours; they’ve even played a show on a beach. Wherever they turn up, they are going to be sincere and passionate. They are going to have fun. And moreover, so will you. This is an arena-ready band, capable of moving any kind of crowd, with the heart and soul of DIY freedom.

In celebration of their upcoming tour, multi-platinum selling rock band Simple Plan has teamed up with State Champs and We The Kings for the release of a brand new single. “Where I Belong,” a fun and energetic song that captures the spirit of live music, is out now and you can listen to it below:

“We’re extremely excited about our upcoming tour with our friends State Champs and We The Kings and we wanted to find a way to make these shows even more special and memorable for our fans,” shares Simple Plan. “That’s how we came up with the idea of releasing brand new music and our first new song in over 3 years, just a few weeks ahead of the first date of the tour.”

The band continues: “This song is a celebration of 3 bands coming together, collaborating and doing something unique for the pure love of music. It’s back-to-basics, in your face, full of energy and fun with heartfelt lyrics; exactly what our 3 bands love and stand-for. We wrote the song imagining ourselves playing it on stage and having our fans singing along with us at the top of their lungs. Going to shows, whether we’re playing them or just standing in the crowd, is where we belong, and we can’t wait to perform this song with State Champs and We The Kings every single night on this tour! We hope our fans will enjoy it.”

Simple Plan is set to captivate audiences across the United States this fall on their upcoming co-headline tour with State Champs. Kicking off on October 29th, the tour also features We The Kings and Northbound. Tickets and VIP packages are on sale now and available at simpleplan.com.

The band continues their philanthropic initiatives on this upcoming tour, with the joint decision between Simple Plan and State Champs that all money raised will be donated to help children affected by the ICE immigration raids in the USA.

Simple Plan and State Champs cultivated their friendship while touring together on the final cross-country Vans Warped Tour in 2018. The Historic Scoot Inn and Austin weather brought their A-game to welcome State Champs and the Living Proof Tour to town on a Thursday night. With a solid bill consisting of Grayscale, The Dangerous Summer, and Our Last Night, State Champs had the crowd warmed up and ready to rock the outdoor venue.

The set kicked off with their first track from Living Proof, Criminal and got the energy up and crowd moving. As the Living Proof Tour it was no surprise that many songs of the set came from that album, but, aware of the loyalty of their long time fans, Champs made sure the set list held plenty of the old jams. The set least appeased fans from The Finer Things era to present day. In the middle of the set we were treated to a stripped-down sing-a-long of If I’m Lucky, allowing the crowd to sing their hearts out. Of course the energy had to be picked back up and was done so effortlessly with the ever popular All You Are Is History and Simple Existence. The band was welcomed back to the stage for their encore with chants of “SECRETS! SECRETS! SECRETS!” to which they ended their second to last show of the tour with a very energetic fulfilment of the crowds wish.
Overall it was a perfect night for a good ole pop-punk show. State Champs is one of those bands that can almost effortlessly get you off your feet and having a good time – and they proved that again with this headlining show in Austin.

State Champs are bringing the Living Proof Tour to North America next month. Kicking off on March 1st in Chicago, IL, the New York Pop-Punkers will be delivering their well-known larger than life stage energy combined with some of their biggest stage productions yet to cities across the United States. Delivering high-voltage versions of tracks from their latest release like fan-favorites “Dead and Gone“, “Our Time To Go” and “Criminal“, the 5-piece band will be supported by Our Last Night, The Dangerous Summer and Grayscale. Multiple cities have already sold out, with all remaining tickets on sale now at http://www.statechampsny.com/.

While creating Living Proof, State Champs went back to their roots, writing and recording in garages while also collaborating with Mike Green and Kyle Black as they did for Around The World And Back. They didn’t shy away from new experiences either, working with legendary producer John Feldmann (Blink-182, Good Charlotte) for the first time while additional contributions came in the form of writing sessions with Alex Gaskarth (All Time Low) and Mark Hoppus (Blink-182). On an album full of go-for-broke moments, State Champs pushed themselves to new heights without ever forgetting where they came from.
Living Proof is a record about coming out the other side those experiences, both triumphant and humbled. That growth is palpable, as State Champs made a record that’s like nothing they’ve done before, but is still an album that only they could ever make. Fans can stream and purchase Living Proof at http://www.statechampsny.com/.
