STATE CHAMPS Bring Pop Punk Spectacular to Texas

The Historic Scoot Inn and Austin weather brought their A-game to welcome State Champs and the Living Proof Tour to town on a Thursday night. With a solid bill consisting of Grayscale, The Dangerous Summer, and Our Last Night, State Champs had the crowd warmed up and ready to rock the outdoor venue.

The set kicked off with their first track from Living Proof, Criminal and got the energy up and crowd moving. As the Living Proof Tour it was no surprise that many songs of the set came from that album, but, aware of the loyalty of their long time fans, Champs made sure the set list held plenty of the old jams. The set least appeased fans from The Finer Things era to present day. In the middle of the set we were treated to a stripped-down sing-a-long of If I’m Lucky, allowing the crowd to sing their hearts out. Of course the energy had to be picked back up and was done so effortlessly with the ever popular All You Are Is History and Simple Existence. The band was welcomed back to the stage for their encore with chants of “SECRETS! SECRETS! SECRETS!” to which they ended their second to last show of the tour with a very energetic fulfilment of the crowds wish.
Overall it was a perfect night for a good ole pop-punk show. State Champs is one of those bands that can almost effortlessly get you off your feet and having a good time – and they proved that again with this headlining show in Austin.
