Sleeping with Sirens are back with fierce new song “Leave it All Behind” and a music video to accompany it. This is the first single released for their upcoming fifth full-length album, How It Feels To Be Lost, to be released September 6th via their new label home, Sumerian Records.
“Leave it All Behind” first debuted live at All Points East in the UK earlier this month, receiving heavy approval from attending fans and fans throughout the internet who had a chance to see video footage of the performance. Fans got excited for the bands new music after hearing this song live as they were stoked to see that they were returning to their roots in the new album. The band has undergone a lot of changes since their start in 2010, varying genres with each album release we’ve seen with pop-rock, metal, electronic, acoustic, and of course while everyone seemingly is going the pop route with recent albums, Sleeping with Sirens did the opposite by going back to their post-hardcore roots. If you were a fan of “With Ears to See and Eyes to Hear” and “Let’s Cheers To This” then you’re in for a treat with this new track.
The song starts out with a heavy drum and guitar instrumental sounding similar to “Kick Me” which was named ‘Song of the Year‘ in 2015 with an award from Alternative Press Magazine at the APMAs. In the music video for the new single, the full band shots remind us of “If You Can’t Hang” with water flying everywhere and vocalist Kellin Quinn coming in with the familiar fan-favorite high vocal melodies and aggressive screams, dabbling with lyrical vulnerability which can be seen in the lyrics:
“If you feel like you are nothing, If you feel like letting go,
I’ll be your hope when you are hopeless,
Together we are not alone.
You’re not alone!”
This song is not only a reminder to the band themselves, but also to fans that music is a goto outlet when they feel lost and alone and that is highly present within this new song. The chorus is very catchy, combined with the heavy breakdowns and cinematic music video, this was one hell of a comeback from Sleeping With Sirens. We can’t wait to see what the band has to offer on their upcoming performance dates with Rockstar Disrupt Festival and the final Vans Warped Tour 25th anniversary in California and Atlantic City, NJ.
