Teaming up with multi-platinum Puerto Rican rapper and singer Anuel for her first single and music video of 2020 following a massively successful Super Bowl performance, the vibrant and surreal clip directed by Drew Kirsch (of Taylor Swift’s “Lover”) continues a tradition of larger-than-life visuals for the superstar. This time around, she rocks colorful high fashion on the table of a bright kitchen as Anuel prepares a meal in the background. It sets the stage for a series of stunning and sexy set-pieces, ranging from Anuel rapping on a high-speed train to Shakira presiding over a banquet table fit for a queen. The images remain just as memorable as the track’s undeniable hook.
In under two months, “Me Gusta” emerged as one of the year’s hottest hits. Beyond 75 million-plus worldwide streams and 37 million views on the lyric video, it scored platinum plaques in US Latin and Spain in addition to going gold in Brazil and Mexico, not to mention Top 10 at radio in Argentina, Chile, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Mexico, and US Latin.
