During Smith’s appearance on the Emmy-winning daytime talk show, Clarkson asked the “Unholy” singer about the gift Sheeran sent Smith. “So, wait, I heard that you’re about to get another trophy and it’s from Ed Sheeran,” Clarkson asked, before adding, “I want to know about this trophy.”
“Oh my gosh,” Smith quickly replied laughing. “It’s actually wild, like I thought it was a joke, but it’s a six foot two marble penis that is two tons and I’m going to have to get it craned into my house.”
“What do you do with that?” Clarkson pondered. “How expensive is that? Where [will you put it] in your foyer? Like what’s going to happen…”
Smith then added, “well, I want to turn it into a fountain, which I think will be hard to do, but I want to.”
Clarkson questioned if the item is a gift that he normally just gives his friends, to which Smith replied, “He gives people concrete penises, I’m not the first.” Clarkson, who is seen laughing, added, “okay, and my email is… I don’t want a concrete penis, okay, I kind of want a concrete penis.”
The two superstars then named the massive penis statue.
Smith suggested the name “Phillip,” which Clarkson seemed to like as she told him “wow, how proper.” They also thought of the name “Kevin,” a name Clarkson said felt a “little weird” as it reminds her of the boy from Home Alone.
“No, we’re going to think of one, a good one. [How about] Duke of Hastings,” Clarkson suggested. Smith seemingly enjoyed that name, replying, “oh I like that.”
“Hm… I’m just saying sounds grand and six two,” Clarkson joked.
Smith and Sheeran are longtime friends and have a history together. In June of 2022, Smith joined Sheeran on stage at London’s Wembley Stadium to sing a duet of “Stay With Me.”
Together, the pair performed the tune from The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement soundtrack. The tune also appears on Clarkson’s second studio album of the same name. The track, which was co-written by Matthew Gerrard, Bridget Benenate and Avril Lavigne, was originally intended for Lavigne’s debut studio album, Let Go (2002). However, it made its way to Clarkson and Lavigne and Clarkson are both glad it did.
Donning a red shirt emblazoned with white hearts, Smith joined Clarkson for a star-studded duet of “Breakaway” during ‘Kellyoke.’
“I’ll spread my wings and I’ll learn how to fly / I’ll do what it takes ’til I touch the sky / And I’ll make a wish, take a chance, make a change / And break away / Out of the darkness and into the sun / But I won’t forget all the ones that I love / I’ll take a risk, take a chance, make a change / And break away,” the pair sing together.
Clarkson’s The Kelly Clarkson Show returned to NBC for Season 4 on September 12.
