Sam Hunt was arrested this morning (Nov. 21) at 6:30am after allegedly driving drunk, the wrong way down an East Nashville road, as reported by WKRN News. Hunt was booked into the Nashville Metro Prison around 6:30am on charges of driving under the influence and having open containers of alcohol with him.
According to an arrest warrant, police were notified early Thursday morning that a driver was traveling south in the northbound lanes of Ellington Parkway near Ben Allen Road. When officers responded to the report, they seen the vehicle going the wrong way, swerving in and out of his lane and a traffic stop was initiated.
Police identified the driver as Sam Hunt, smelling of alcohol and having bloodshot eyes with two empty beers next to him, investigators said. Hunt then having difficulties providing the officer with his drivers license, attempting to hand the officers his credit card and passport. He was the only person in the vehicle at the time and admitted that he was drinking alcohol “recently.”
The arrest warrant indicates Hunt had a blood alcohol content of .173. Hunt was released from jail around 9 a.m. on a $2,500 bond. A court date has been set for Jan. 17th, 2020.
