Russell Dickerson debuted his new upbeat single “Home Sweet” on Friday (June 26) and we cannot stop dancing to the infectious beats of the track.
“This song is as real as it gets. The week Kailey and I got home from our honeymoon my income stopped. I was in between deals and we were flat broke!” Dickerson explained about the new track. “Now we just moved into our new house and have a baby on the way so yeah, ‘Home Sweet’ is about as spot on real life as it gets. “We got it all you’re still all I need…Home Sweet.”
“Home Sweet” follows the release of Dickerson’s current single, “Love You Like I Used To,” which is inspired by his wife, Kailey. The couple announced in April that they are expecting their first child. “Home Sweet” is the second track released from his much-anticipated, forthcoming sophomore album.
The new song details Dickerson’s current life with his wife, Kailey, and everything that they have going on right now including expecting their first child, moving into a new home and more.
“It’s just right now, we weren’t planning on releasing this song second, right after ‘Love You Like I Used To,’ but it’s like this song is exactly what is happening right now. It talks about my life right now, it’s talks about our life right now,” Dickerson told RADIO.com in a recent interview. “It’s one of my favorite on the entire album, I cry every time I listen to it, so there’s that, it’s cool.”
The song was co-written by Dickerson, alongside Lady A’s Charles Kelley and Casey Brown.
“That doormat says “Welcome Home” / But I think it’s wherever I’m with you / It’s more than some bricks and stones / No, there ain’t nothing like / Home sweet, you and me / Ain’t got much but we got all we need / Wherever the wind blows / Wherever this life goes / Baby, all I know, ain’t nothing like, nothing like / Home sweet, You and me,” Dickerson sings.
Russell previously topped the charts with his No. 1 hits including “Yours,” “Blue Tacoma” and “Every Little Thing.”
