Rockie Brown is a young British/Filipina female rapper who is attempting to understand a world that isn’t always friendly, especially to women. Although her latest single, “Soul Sister Retribution,” off of her EP, Mad World, is a banger, it also has meaning. This song is an empowerment anthem to all women who feel ignored or shut out of the system. The fight for women is a personal one as, because her mother moved to America from Manila and struggled hard to make a life for her and her family. She she witnessed the difficulties before she even fully understood it.

If you haven’t heard of Rockie, we’re sure you will or have and didn’t even notice! Her music has charted on 100 college radio stations across the country and has been licensed for use in shows like Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Total Divas, Total Bellas, Born This Way, The Real World, Lohan Beach Club, The Healer, Miz & Mrs., and Family or Fiancé.

With lyrics like, ” Lil girl, I got you / There’s no need to be afraid / Ain’t nobody gonna touch you,” “And we can scream at the top of our lungs and make it known / It’s gonna get nasty, sassy, keepin it classy,” and “To all my ladies I salute ya / Soul sista retribution,” Rockie shows that she’s a fighter, a listener, and a protector

When Rockie looks at the camera throughout the music video, she does it with confidence, showing everyone that she’s not here to play. She’s here to make a change.
