Team Nick’s Rachel Mac put her vocals on display with a cover of Lee Ann Wommack’s “I Hope You Dance” during The Voice finale on Monday (May 24).
Mac dedicated her performance to her 8-month old nephew, Ezra. Before she took the stage, she read a letter to her Ezra and explained that she chose to sing Womack’s “I Hope You Dance” because her father used to sing it to her when she was a baby.
The 16-year-old earned praise from Kelly Clarkson and her coach, Nick Jonas, following her performance.
“First of all, I’m going to lead with the sweetness of your voice is angelic and captivating,” Clarkson gushed.
She went on to compliment her song choice, telling her “I Hope You Dance” is one of her favorite songs of all time.

Jonas congratulated her for delivering “one of your best performances of this entire journey.”
“You about made me cry,” Jonas told her. “I’m so proud to see you grow into a superstar.”
Rachel Mac originally auditioned with a cover of Patty Griffin’s “Let Him Fly.” She earned a chair turn from Jonas but was noticeably a bit disappointed that Shelton didn’t turn his chair for her. She went on to reveal that she is actually a Blake Shelton super fan and once based a school project around the country superstar.
She went on to perform songs such as Kacey Musgraves’ “Rainbow,” Patty Griffins’s “Let Him Fly” and Jewel’s “Foolish Games.”
