At the 2019 Q102 Jingle Ball Free Show Pre Show, We caught up with the rapidly rising band and recent Island Records signees, PUBLIC. The band’s explosion to the top all started with their smash hit single “Make You Mine” which made its way around on the social media platform, TikTok, which quickly turned into a radio hit and fan favorite single for them. However, that is not the bands only song and yes there is more to them then just being the musicians behind a viral song on TikTok, They actually have several other songs that have some very anthemic catchy choruses and upbeat melodies that you will love.
PUBLIC has been making waves within music right now with their breakout hit “Make You Mine” which they have released several versions of including some one-of-a-kind collaborative remixes.
The three-piece band, PUBLIC, is made up of Ben Lapps, Matthew Alvarado and John Vaughn. Vaughn and Lapp started writing songs in a basement as a duo before Alvarado joined to form their current lineup which found them independently releasing music, first releasing their 2012 EP, Red. Later being signed to Island Records, but their success didn’t stop there, as the band has also toured with the likes of Twenty One Pilots, Young the Giant, Walk the Moon as well as participating in major festivals and radio shows like Forecastle, Bunbury, CMJ, Jingle Ball and SXSW, giving them exposure to a variety of crowds while gaining themselves fanbase.
