Post Malone is using his time in quarantine wisely, he is in the process of creating a new album from his house in Park City, Utah.
Malone says that he is “working on an album now” and that the new music is inspired by the current times and what’s going on in the world right now and that he hopes the new music will “uplift people’s spirits.”
When speaking to Wall Street Journal Magazine, he said that he is “just vibing out and seeing where my brain takes me, this has been a perfect time to make music, and to write songs about what’s going on currently.”
The award-winning rapper told WSJ that he is working on the follow-up to his latest album, Hollywood’s Bleeding. When speaking on the new music he says he hopes to “uplift people’s spirits” as right now “it’s a dark time in America. It’s a dark time in the world.”
“There’s so much to say in these times that will give people hope and hopefully uplift people’s spirits, Because it’s a dark time in America. It’s a dark time in the world. Honestly, for a songwriter to be in the house all day is a blessing and a curse,” Malone explained. “In the darkest of times I’m just trying to make something beautiful out of it.”
“And I probably say that every album cycle, but for me it feels so special, I want to make an album that will uplift and show that people are not alone in their times of loneliness and worry and that at the end of the day we all just need to show love to everyone on the planet and figure things out. So we’re working pretty hard, and I think we’re making some incredible stuff.”
“To be honest, I think everyone in America is going a little bit crazy sitting at home all day. So I’ve gone a little bit crazy, and I wanted to take more steps outside of my comfort range and make music that I think — to me — is some of the best I’ve made.”
Malone was forced off of his sold out Runaway Tour in March due to the novel coronavirus pandemic that put all touring musicians off the road and he says that he misses the “rush and the thrill” of the live shows.
He also says that once quarantine ends and travel restrictions are lifted, he plans to get on his “big-ass boat” that he has “chartered in Greece,” he continues to say “So the day this all ends I’m getting my ass right over there.”
Malone recently teamed up with Tyla Yaweh for a new song called “Tommy Lee” which also features the iconic Motley Crue drummer on drums.
