South Carolina rock band, NEEDTOBREATHE, took College Station, TX by acoustic storm Sunday night. For the second time in my career I find myself near speechless after a show – both times because of NEEDTOBREATHE. Solo act Sean McConnell kicked off the night and was mesmerizing with his soulful voice that commanded the room with ease. Rarely do you find an opener who captures the attention of the crowd. The man deserves all the applause we could muster.
When NEEDTOBREATHE took the stage around 7:45p my first thought was “Sunday night, guess it’s gonna be an early show.” WRONG.
The powerhouses took off on their acoustic adventure with the first “act” lasting an hour. The crowd was treated to acoustic versions of tracks spanning nearly the entire discography of the band. After a brief intermission Act II was off in full force and, I don’t know how, was more powerful than the first hour. Do these guys ever run out of steam? I’m willing to bet no. I honestly don’t have the words to adequately describe just how moving of a night this show was. I’ve sat here trying to do the show justice but I simply cannot. The good news for you is that they’re half way through this acoustic tour so you have the chance to go be speechless, too. The voices, harmonies, ambiance, and emotions are all there. Just wait until the band steps away from their microphones to serenade the crowd with just their voices and unplugged guitars.Your life will never be the same. NEEDTOBREATHE Acoustic is a tour you truly do not want to miss.
