Unlimited bags of free M&M’s, An interactive photo booth & GIF creator, Virtual Reality, high-tech bowling with friends, and a jammin’ dance party with DNCE. That was what the M&M’s spotlight concert featuring DNCE was about in Brooklyn, NY at the Genre-defying Brooklyn Bowl which is an incredibly unique venue with not only a bowling alley but a stage for live shows. The M&M’s Spotlight is new series of concerts called M&M’s Spotlights which featuring a series of surprise pop-concerts connecting fans to spontaneous moments of fun. On Wednesday – April 12th, Republic Records dance-rock band, DNCE was the featured artist performing for their fas who were able to RSVP and get into the very low capacity venue which is not the typical size venue for DNCE, as they usually play for much larger sized venues but for the M&M’s spotlight series the concerts are for intimate shows where bands can connect with their fans.
The multi-platinum band, DNCE put on an extraordinary show defying the genres by blending pop, dance, rock, and even an R&B vibe to their very distinctive sound, which is so easy to find yourself vibing with. DNCE is something of a supergroup: in addition to Joe Jonas (from the Jonas Brothers), they have Semi Precious Weapons bassist Cole Whittle, former Jonas Brothers drummer Jack Lawless, and rockin’ guitarist JinJoo Lee, who has toured with everybody from Jordin Sparks to Cee Lo Green to Charli XCX. DNCE’s funky but stylish stage presence grasps your attention from the moment they step onto the stage, then leaving you craving for more as they exit the stage as their live shows are a force to be reckoned with. The band feeding off the crowds very high energy levels, and giving back an even more intense amount of energy making the entire crowd get off their feet and dance along to their very jammin’ party vibe music. The entire audience not stopping to take a breather while singing along to an incredible setlist & a non-stop dance party along to their music. A few notable pieces of their set were: Their very unique Star Wars themed intro while two crew members waved “TEAM DNCE” flags, Their very high strung performance of “Pay My Rent,” and the beautiful blend of covers including “Wannabe,” “Oops I Did It Again,” “Fade,” and into their biggest hit which went triple platinum, “Cake By The Ocean.” DNCE’s performance is infectious to say the very least, their music makes you want to dance, sing, and just vibe to the music.
Later after the performance at Brooklyn Bowl, the band was seen leaving the venue and meeting with fans on a Snapchat story.
