Award-winning country star Mitchell Tenpenny has made chart history with his #1 track “Truth About You.” The song’s success marks the shortest time between chart-topping tracks in the modern chart era with only three weeks since Tenpenny’s previous #1 single.
The gold-selling single has garnered over 1.3 billion global streams to date.
“☝🏼Country radio, thank y’all. Thank you to every single person who made this happen. I have the best team & fans in the world. We made history!!!! I’ll be celebrating for a while about this one. Cheers y’all!!” Tenpenny shared on Instagram.
Tenpenny continues to celebrate his massive success in a post with T-Pain and Rafe Tenpenny, the singer’s bass player.
“I’ve got the number 1 song on country radio & I’m partying with @tpain today! Life is fucking good #TruthAboutYou” he said.
The breakout artist’s co-penned project with star Chris Young, “At The End Of A Bar,” hit #1 on August 22.
“It takes a huge team and support to bring a song to #1,” said Tenpenny. “I’m so thankful to everyone, including the fans, who believed this song was special and helped bring it to the top of the charts. And to have this #1 just three weeks after being part of my last one is unbelievable. Thank you country radio. You’ll never know how much this means to me. I’m just overwhelmed with thankfulness.”
Fans got their first taste of “Truth About You” in a preview Tenpenny posted to TikTok in August 2021. Their wild praise earned the singer 2.5 million streams during the first three days after release, with the number of streams doubling within a week. Due to fan reactions, the track reached country radio that same month.
Tenpenny is gearing up to drop his new full studio album, “This Is The Heavy,” this Friday, September 16. The 20-track project was co-written by the Nashville native and co-produced alongside Jordan M. Schmidt.
“I couldn’t be more excited about this record! So many new songs! I wasn’t supposed to share anymore but fuck it here’s one more. Go preorder ‘This Is The Heavy’ out Sep 16! #newmusic #country #newrecord” the star captioned an Instagram post.
