Miley Cyrus Hosting Video Music Awards 2015 And The Nominees Are…

Many music lovers will want to make sure they can catch the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards presentation live on television Sunday, Aug. 30, at 9 p.m. EDT Hosted by the happy hippie herself Miley Cyrus. But what about those who won’t have access to a TV set at that time?  MTV is hooking fans up: Viewers can also watch the event online through a live stream.

Miley Cyrus, who will be hosting the event, has been seen all over ads for the VMAs and has been promoting the event via her Twitter account. Cyrus told the New York Times the show this year will be “psychedelic” and “raw.” She dished: “I didn’t want this VMAs to be like they’ve been in the past. Last year, there wasn’t even a host, so there was no energy.”

With respect to the big award of the night — Video of the Year — the nominees are Beyonce for “7/11,” Ed Sheeran for “Thinking Out Loud,” Kendrick Lamar for “Alright,” Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars for “Uptown Funk” and Taylor Swift featuring Kendrick Lamar for “Bad Blood.”

There will be performances by Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Pharrell Williams, The Weeknd, Tori Kelly, and Twenty One Pilots and A$AP Rocky. Nicki Minaj will launch the live performances as the opening act. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will be presenting their new song “Downtown” live for the first time, according to Rolling Stone.

Kanye West will be named the 2015 Video Vanguard Winner. Hopefully, nobody grabs the microphone away from him when he receives the honor.

Variety reported MTV will produce a live-streaming, 360-degree virtual-reality video experience for the red-carpet pre-show. The pre-show will air on MTV at 8 p.m. EDT. “Virtual reality is changing the way people see the world and we’re excited to bring this innovative storytelling tool onto the VMA red carpet ahead of this year’s show,” said Colin Helms, senior vice president of MTV Connected Content.

The pre-show will feature the premiere of Taylor Swift’s brand-new music video for “Wildest Dreams, as well as performances by Nick Jonas and The Weeknd, according to MTV.
