Mickey Guyton shared an update on her son, Grayson, who was hospitalized with an unknown illness earlier this week.
In a statement shared on Twitter early Saturday (Nov. 20) morning, the GRAMMY-nominated country singer let fans know that baby Grayson is recovering and that it’s just going to take some time. She also revealed the cause of his illness, which was a stomach bug that cause the 9-month-old to become dehydrated.
“Hey guys, I just wanted to give y’all an update on Little Gray. My baby fell ill on November 11th, eventually requiring a trip to the ICU,” Guyton’s update read. “It turned out to be dehydration because of a severe stomach bug. Seeing my baby boy like this was truly terrifying.”
As the update continued, Guyton thanked the Doctor’s who helped her son get on the path to recovery from the illness. In addition to thanking the Doctor’s, the “Remember Her Name” singer also shared that her son is doing much better, but is still in need of your prayers.
“A pediatric Doctor named Dr. Grace, stayed by Grayson’s side the entire time we were in the [emergency room], discovered the problem and help create a plan to heal baby Grayson,” Guyton said. “Our family Doctor, Dr. Nathan Ford also took action and helped Grayson secure a bed at the hospital when all the hospitals were maxed out and understaffed because of nurse shortages. I truly believe Grayson would not be on the road to a full recovery without them.”
Guyton continued, “Grayson is doing much better, all signs are stable and improving. He is still dehydrated and weak and has lost weight from not being able to retain any liquid. Despite all of this, Gray is a fighter and his labs are showing he is headed in the right direction. Please please please continue to pray for him. He felt every single prayer lifted up over him when he was headed to the ICU, and it’s working, as he was stabilized and released from the ICU within a matter of hours. He’s getting better by the minute, it’s just going to take some time.”

“The hardest and most beautiful thing I have ever done. Welcome to the world Grayson!,” the country singer previously shared on Instagram alongside an image of her new son.
Guyton also shared a biblical scripture from Psalm 30:5 that read “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”
The couple wed on June 26, 2017, in Kauai, Hawaii.
This Sunday (Nov. 21), Guyton is set to perform “All American,” a song from her debut album, Remember Her Name, at the 2021 American Music Awards.
The country singer and Texas native is also slated to perform at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade later this month on Nov. 25.
Additionally, Guyton recently released her debut album, Remember Her Name. The 16-track project was released on Friday, September 24.
“Remember Her Name is a culmination of the last ten years of my life in Nashville,” Guyton shared. “This album is the closing of a chapter. All those years ago, I set out to create music that would make people feel self-empowered, loved, and comfortable with being themselves and this album holds true to all of that. I hope everyone who listens finds something that connects and speaks to them.”
