MERLIN found her love for music when it became her safety net. After moving back and forth between Albania and Germany with her family before they finally stayed in Boston when she was 7,  she got stuck in a language barrier. She felt like an outcast, and music soon became the one thing that was always there for her no matter where she went.

Once she discovered music, she stuck to it. MERLIN began to write poems, write songs, and even learned English by listening to iconic female artists like Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, and Paramore.

When she got to middle school, MERLIN got involved in school musicals, talent shows, joined a cover band as the lead singer, and even got involved with local modeling and talent agencies. Based off of all this, we’re sure you can see where this is going. This girl didn’t just decide to do music, she lived it. She breathed it. She took every opportunity thrown her way to get to where she wanted to be.

Modeling is what ended up leading her to attend IMTA New York, where she began receiving
offers that required her to move across the country during her freshman year of college. After all, being skilled in different areas is a good thing to do, rather than pour all your eggs in one basket, aka music.

Despite the offers, she wanted to continue her education and be near her family.

MERLIN decided to follow her heart. After graduating with a Bachelor’s in Psychology, music kept being the thing that never really went away. With her backup plans in place, she is now taking her chance in music again, which led to her to find Red 13 Studios and the production duo Late Boomers Club, who are currently working with her to finalize her EP.

They’re also the ones who helped her release her newest single and music video for “Love.”

With lyrics like, “I give you my love / You take my whole heart,” “There’s something you need to know / It’s the little things that kill your soul,” and “I am all I need,” the song is a moody love letter to her younger self. The single’s meaning translates into the artwork for it. (Shown above.) The photo is actually a photo of MERLIN as a child, holding her Barbie and Ken doll.

“”Love” is me addressing my past and my younger self, warning against false and fantasy love,” says MERLIN. “It’s a mixture of how one feels in the midst of a toxic relationship and then realizing that the first and most important love, is yourself. It’s my way of turning mistakes into lessons.”
