May Devun Releases “Say the Words”

May Devun is a alternative pop/R&B artist with a voice that truly captivates her listeners along with a mature songwriting style that dives deep into the soul. Connecting to her audience through her music is important, that’s why she uses her voice strategically. With this mindset, there’s emotional value in every note she sings. You can feel what she’s saying in her latest single, “Say the Words.”

Backed up by her vocals, her distinctive songwriting traits are the icing on top. With lyrics like, “As you find yourself standing on edge / Do you fall or fly?,” “Say the Words is all about acknowledging your truths, who you are, and where you’re going. “You’re not a stepping stone, so free yourself, and don’t let others define you or your purpose,” says May.

For this track, May teamed up with composer Patrick Warren (Adele, Lana Del Ray, Taylor Swift, Sara Bareilles) on strings, and Matt Chamberlain (Pearl Jam, Fiona Apple, Chris Cornell) on acoustic drums to complete her vision for the track.

About Melanie Gomez

My name is Melanie Gomez and I graduated with a BA in print journalism with music management as my minor. I loved music since I was a kid because it was always a way my family and I bonded, as well as a way to express myself on my own time as I got older. I’m not a singer and I don’t play an instrument, so my way of being part of the music industry is by getting to write about the music I love in various reviews and through my concert photography. Another goal? To make people smile. You can find me on Instagram @MelanieGomezPhotography. For professional inquires only, please email: [email protected]
