Tucker Carlson labeled Maren Morris a “lunatic” and a “fake country music singer” and she responded with the launch of a new t-shirt with proceeds benefiting GLAAD’s Transgender Media Program and Trans Lifeline.

The Fox News host chatted with Jason Aldean’s wife, Brittany Aldean on his show, Tucker Carlson Tonight, on Thursday evening (Sept. 1) in the wake of the drama surrounding her controversial social media comments.

During the show, Carlson had harsh words for those who called Brittany out after she captioned an Instagram post, “I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life.”

“A country music singer called Cassadee Pope accused Aldean of wronging LGBTQ+ people for writing that, and then a lunatic called Maren Morris, some kind of fake country music singer, went all the way…” Carlson said. “And then of course, Brittany Aldean was attacked up and down the American media for telling a ‘transphobic joke,’ which they never quoted at all. You’d have no idea what she said. They really attacked her and to her great credit she’s not backing down.”

On Friday morning (Sept. 2), Morris poked fun at Carlson’s comments by sharing a “#NewProfilePic” of herself that resembled a Fox News broadcast.

Hours later, the Texas native launched a new shirt making light of Carlson’s comments.

“*ATTN LUNATICS* New shirt in the shop. All proceeds will be split between @translifeline & the @glaad Transgender Media Program. 🌈,” Morris wrote alongside a photo of the black shirt, which reads, “Maren Morris – Lunatic Country Music Person.”

The peer support and crisis hotline for trans youth (877-565-8860) is also featured on the 100% cotton, unisex t-shirt beneath Morris’ name and Carlson’s comment about the “Circles Around This Town” singer.

Morris’ announcement about the t-shirt garnered support from artists such as Fancy Hagood, Lindsay Ell, Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild, Maggie Rose, Brittney Spencer, and more.

The launch of Morris’ charitable t-shirt comes just two days after Brittany Aldean launched a line of Barbie-inspired merchandise dubbed “Don’t Tread On Our Kids.” Brittany’s merch was a direct response to Morris calling her “Insurrection Barbie.”

According to Brittany, a portion of proceeds from the sales of her merch will be donated to Operation Light Shine, whose mission is to bring “unilateral collaboration with law enforcement, field specialists, and subject-matter experts in a joint effort to fight human trafficking and child exploitation.”

Jason Aldean has remained relatively tight-lipped on social media following the controversy on social media.

On Thursday afternoon, Aldean’s longtime publicist, The GreenRoom PR, announced it would be parting ways with the country singer after 17 years.

The GreenRoom PR co-owner Tyne Parrish told Billboard, “Music has always been and remains The GreenRoom’s core focus, so we had to make the difficult decision after 17 years to step away from representing Jason. We aren’t the best people for the gig anymore, but will always be big fans of his music — he is one of the greatest live entertainers in country music.”

The publicity firm also represents artists such as Thomas Rhett, Lady A, Dierks Bentley, and more.
