Maren Morris performed her latest single “To Hell & Back” on Wednesday (Oct. 21) during the 2020 CMT Music Awards.

The country superstar put her stunning vocals on full display with no production, just her and her acoustic guitar, in a beautiful rustic log cabin.

“I’m really excited about this performance because we got to goto my friends A-frame Cabin that they’ve been building the last few months and it just felt like the most woodsy, perfect backdrop for Hell & Back,” Morris said ahead of her performance. “I feel like kind of stripping it back, no production just an acoustic guitar and a vocal. That’s how I wrote that song, so it feels like i’m kind of going back to basics of how it was originated.”

The busbee-produced track was co-written by Jessie Jo Dillon and Laura Veltz, the pair who penned her single “Rich” from her 2016 debut album, Hero. “To Hell & Back” is Morris’ latest single to Country Radio and appears on her album, GIRL.

The 2020 CMT Music Awards aired Wednesday night (Oct. 21) on CMT and featured performances from Ashley McBryde, Dan + Shay, Gabby Barrett, Jimmie Allen, Noah Cyrus, Kelsea Ballerini, Halsey, Little Big Town, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Brooks & Dunn, Kane Brown, Morgan Wallen, Sam Hunt and Shania Twain as well as debut performances by Caylee Hammack, HARDY, Ingrid Andress, Mickey Guyton, Riley Green and Travis Denning.

The show was co-hosted by Kane Brown alongside Ashley McBryde and Sarah Hyland.

The Awards were produced by CMT’s Margaret Comeaux, Switched On Entertainment’s John Hamlin and Amy Lin Johnson; the Executives in Charge of Production are Jackie Barba and Heather D. Graffagnino.
