LeAnn Rimes Gives Update On Her Vocal Cord Bleed: “I Am Officially On The Mend”

After suffering a vocal cord injury that forced her to cancel several concerts at the end of 2022, LeAnn Rimes is officially on the “mend” and will soon return to the road on the story… so far tour.

The “Can’t Fight The Moonlight” singer took to social media on Tuesday, January 10, to share the “exciting news” with fans.

“I am officially on the mend and have been given the all clear to perform for you again… so to celebrate, I’ve just added some brand-new shows to ‘the story… so far tour,’” Rimes explained alongside a video that featured live footage. “The new dates will be on sale later this month, but as always, I wanted to make sure that you loves have exclusive access to the best tickets.”

Pre-sale tickets were available for those with access to LeAnn Rimes official fan club.

“Be sure to let me know where I’ll be seeing you,” she added. “I’m already counting down the days until we are reunited!!”

On December 20, 2022, shared an update regarding her health.

“My complete vocal rest may be slowly coming to an end but my new-found love for my text to talk app might hang around a little longer,” she wrote on social media. “Sending you the biggest hugs for the holidays and all of the healing vibes to anyone that is feeling under the weather right now. this virus was no joke 💔”

She then offered a “PSA,” if you’re squeamish, keep scrolling 😉” in reference to a video she shared from her doctor’s office.

The news comes after Rimes was forced to cancel most of her holiday tour in early December of 2022. At the time, the hitmaker shared a statement with fans on social media detailing that while she was battling an illness, doctors found a troubling issue with her vocal cords and she was put on mandatory vocal rest.

“While sick with the flu, my doctor discovered a bleed on my vocal cord, cause by the violent cough that came along with being sick,” Rimes explained. ”I am getting better, but I am unable to talk or sing… doctor’s orders! I am devastated to have to do this as there was nothing more that I was looking forward to than celebrating the holidays with you. The two-time GRAMMY-award winner will return to the road on January 27 for a concert at Events Center Pala Casino in Pala, California.

Rimes will kick off her much-anticipated The Story… So Far Tour on April 6 in Portland, Maine and continues through September of 2023.

The Story… So Far Tour will feature a set list that includes Rimes’ greatest hits as well as new tunes that appear on her latest album, God’s Work.

God’s Work is Rimes’ 19th studio album and includes 12 tracks. The project also features an eclectic group of accomplished artists including Mickey Guyton, Ziggy Marley, Aloe Blacc, Ben Harper, Ledisi, Sheila E., and more.

“It really does take a village, a community and I am so lucky that these sweet souls helped me to create this record. You won’t find any better than this group of people! Thank you, thank you, thank you. You are all “god’s work,” Rimes captioned an Instagram post.

Nearly three years in the making, the 12-track record puts the singer-songwriter’s breathtaking vocals on full display and includes a mix of ethereal, rhythmic, and brutally honest songs that take each listener on their own unique journey.

“After nearly three years of creating this record, I couldn’t be more excited to release god’s work-out into the world. This project is more genre-bending than anything I’ve ever done before, and I have the amazing group of featured artists to thank in part for that,” Rimes explained of the project. “god’s work will break your heart and heal it all within the same breath. My hope for this record is that everyone connects with the music in their own unique way, discovering something new about themselves and the complexities of life in the process. This album is a reclamation of god for myself and the lowercase ‘g’ really represents the duality of this record and where humanity meets spirit.”

LeAnn Rimes recently brought her song, “Spaceship” to life with a music video that features footage from an RV trip across the state of California. The clip was captured by Rimes’ husband, Eddie Cibrian.

“The vulnerability that’s seen in the video really speaks to my own emotional connection with the song and the intention in which it was written,” Rimes shared. “When we were writing and working on the track, we were still in the midst of COVID and the feelings of isolation and despair were everywhere around us. While reflecting, I realized that there’s a lot of hope that comes from letting it all out and expressing these harder emotions. I think the song gives everyone permission to take time and really just have a moment of having it out with God, so we can move past it and get back to living life.”

“We were on our way back from Mammoth when I said we should stop in Alabama Hills to scout a possible location. Once we got there and found a spot, the sun was setting and there was something magical at that exact moment. We knew we needed to capture something then. It was intimate, emotional and powerful. We only did four takes, which were a mix of sunset and sunrise to capture both sets of light. It all came together beautifully,” said Cibrian.
