Lauren Alaina Gives Fans The First Taste Of Her Forthcoming EP With New Song “Run”

Lauren Alaina is giving fans a taste of her highly-anticipated new EP, Getting Over Him, with the release of her new song “Run.”

“I wrote ‘Run’ with Ben Johnson and Kennedi,” Alaina said. “We are all running. Constantly. Non-Stop. Even in this quarantine we are all still the busiest we’ve ever been. Life just keeps going and going and going in unbelievable paces as we try to race ourselves to the next thing. My idea with the song was to refer to examples of all things that run because no matter what your walk of life is, we are all racing to the next thing. We are all trying to get where we are going. We all get our hearts broken. We all have these childhood dreams. We ‘run’ to make it all happen.”

“Run” was co-written by Alaina alongside Ben Johnson and Kennedi.

“Wrote this music while learning how to let go of the past,” Alaina said in a social media post announcing the EP.

“Music is my lifeline,” says Alaina. “Music literally pulls me out of everything I ever go through [career, heartbreak, family, self-worth, love] and I feel really empowered with this music. I feel like this music shows my personal growth and my emotional growth. This EP of songs is all about loving myself through other people not loving me and not staying with me. It’s about me being able to get back to that same confident girl I wrote about on Road Less Travelled and to hold on to that confidence. I get to celebrate that with this music, and I am so excited. I can’t wait for the fans to hear it.”

Getting Over Him features two duets, including the title track duet with her labelmate and friend Jon Pardi. Alaina previously collaborated with Pardi on his Heartache Medication track “Don’t Blame It On Whiskey.” The EP also includes a duet with pop sensation Lukas Graham will also join her on the track “What Do You Think Of?” on the EP.

Getting Over Him is scheduled to be released on September 4. The 6-song project follows Alaina’s previously released 6-track EP, Getting Good.

Alaina says that she feels “really empowered with this music” and thinks that it will really showcase her “personal” and “emotional growth.”

“This EP of songs is all about loving myself through other people not loving me and not staying with me,” Alaina said. “It’s about me being able to get back to that same confident girl I wrote about on Road Less Travelled and to hold on to that confidence. I get to celebrate that with this music, and I am so excited. I can’t wait for the fans to hear it.”

Last month, the Georgia native released a special remix of her current radio single “Getting Good” which features her friend and mentor, superstar Trisha Yearwood.
